Hello All,
I have been a Blu-ray collector (and hoarder) for a few years now. There are a number of titles that I have yet to open, mostly the ones with nicer packaging and the digital copies included. That being said I have never redeemed one of those codes. I want to start creating my digital catalog now. I need advice on what is the best service to use for having the most accessible digital library that includes movies from every studio and distributor (Disney, Sony, Universal, etc). Maybe I might be confusing my terms and names, but I guess where is the best place to start redeeming my movies? Vudu, Flixter, iTunes? Any help or clarification is appreciated. |

It will depend on which one suits you best. But with UltraViolet codes it's sometimes best to redeem that at uvvu.com that way the title is shared amongst your providers.
There's also a chance been in the US that your codes work with both iTunes and UltraViolet, but US members can advise further. |

You can redeem titles at
vudu.com/ecopy, search for title name, enter code and redeem. When you create an account at VUDU , if You don't have Ultraviolet account, you will be asked to create one or login to one. Ultraviolet website is myuv.com. In that website once you create account you can connect or add accounts of different video providing services for example VUDU, Flixster, FandangoNow, sonypictures, uphe, cinemanow. While at VUDU, You can connect your myuv.com account and Disneymoviesanywhere account. Majority of users prefer VUDU as a provider. VUDU has apps available on Android and iOS (no HD support unfortunately) plus apps in Smart TV systems as well. |

Thanks all this information has helped a lot. So I now understand that Disney has their own separate digital copy system from UV. Is it best to redeem the codes via the UV website and Disney, or is there no difference if I redeem them through Vudu? So like if I wanted to use other services rather than being tied to Vudu, will that be a problem if I registered them through Vudu?

Disney titles if you redeem directly through DMA website,
You get Movie + DMR Points directly. OR You can also redeem movie at vudu and then enter code at DMA website and it will give you points only. Make sure you have same vudu account connected at DMA and that movie will port to all the providers you have account connected at DMA. Hope that makes sense ![]() |

I usually redeem on the DMR website and get the points and movie that way. It's worth it to get the points because you can get free movies posters etc. Also consider how you want to share, Vudu allows sharing with subaccounts. Itunes has family sharing. Itunes has extras included on many code redemptions, Vudu does not. Sony and WB codes are UV only and Fox on newer releases makes you choose. |

Many digital titles, those that are Ultraviolet or Disney Movies Anywhere, transfer across various services so the specific portal you use is mostly irrelevant.
Some vendors operate in a bubble and you have to purchase titles that mostly stay only in that service such as iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon; which do not accept Ultraviolet codes in many blu-rays (conversely some blu-rays only provide an iTunes code or include both Ultraviolet AND choice of Google Play or iTunes). Vudu, owned by Wal-mart, is one of the largest portals and has an edge because there are many Vudu only titles (these do not link to other portals). Vudu has frequent weekly sales (but are often not that great compared to physical sales). |

Okay so I have been trying to create an account on myuv.com but it keeps on coming up with some error in the sign-up process. If I just go ahead and initiate the process through Vudu, does this keep my UltraViolet account bound to that service, or is it simply another path to begin my myuv account/library?

There are advantages to each service, depending on your preference.
Personally I use Vudu since it gives you the option of sharing your library, which I do with family. They also have the disc to digital option which allows me to convert many of my blu-rays into my account and even upgrade some DVDs to HD quality that don't have blu-ray copies available. It is also more versatile than iTunes, being available on more devices. The only thing really lacking is the inclusion of special features, which iTunes often gives you. |

So I have now run across the issues where 1. Some of my digital copies are iTunes and not UV, and not only do I not use iTunes, but I despise it. 2. Some of my codes seem to have expired/don't work. Are there any fixes to this, or am I just stuck with them as is?

If you email/contact the studio, sometimes they will give you a new code if yours is expired. Typically I think they will request picture of the movie box and code.. I have not done that before but I know others have... |

Okay so I have come across a few of my either special edition or 3D titles, and the UV code seems to not work or maybe only work for the regular versions of the movie, but in VUDU some of the non-regular versions come up as options in the redeem section. Am I generally supposed to have UVs for only the regular version, or should I be able to redeem even my special and 3D versions?

Only code that gives 3D digital copy is Hotel Transylvania code from 3D blu-ray Edit, and OZ the great Disney code from 3D bluray. |

Best thing is to verify them at myuv.com/redeem and see if code is still valid, Which edition of the titles it gives and all. From there you can select vudu to redeem directly in your account. |

VUDU has many other advantages over Flixster:
- faster web site load time - faster response time when loading your digital library - TV shows organized into seasons - more reliable search tool and shorter time to seeing search results The Flixster web site is really terrible. Frankly, I would rather put an old movie in the tray than go to that awful place....am I the only one who has had this experience? |

Okay, so I've redeemed a solid majority of my movies on Vudu now, with the exception of a few remaining.
1. Is there any advantage to redeeming through the studio website rather than just through Vudu? (I really don't want to make 5 other accounts to redeem, but will if there are extras to be had) i.e. Sony, FoxRedeem, UniversalDigitalCopy, etc 2. What do I do if one of my codes doesn't work? 2.a. What do I do if one has expired? Last edited by Jonkai; 08-03-2016 at 05:07 PM. |

Oh wow, thanks a lot. That's actually pretty huge. I feel like for Sony and Disney it might be worth cause they have their rewards programs, but maybe not for everyone else. Hopefully I haven't already redeemed my Sony titles that might have been eligible for that.
