Default Finally done with DVD

Last night I was moving things around on my media rack to accommodate blu-ray's etc. and I finally got fed up with the DVD's that I had left (about 150/Down from 500) taking up too much space on the rack, and went through them, picked out the ones my kid likes and gave those to him, the rest I threw in a box to sell.

I just will never watch those again now after seeing how infinitely better High def looks. So why even have them?

Sure it was tough throwing LOTR series in the box, and handing my star wars collection to my 6 yr old....but when they are on cable HD and look 5x better it reminds you how crappy SD-DVD is. I'll just wait for them to come on High def (They will eventually) and besides many of those movies I'm so tired of anyways...so by the time they come out in HD I'll be ready to watch them again.

I've been trading mine in but I can't begin to imagine tossing LotR or Star Wars or Indiana Jones or Back to the Future or any Pixar yet.

I think I'm just down to 530 from 600 roughly. The initial purge was easy,.. all the stuff I wasn't sure why I owned.

Wow, I don't think I'm ready to throw my DVD's out yet, but it shows your total commitment to HD.

Next time one of them is on HBOHD, put the dvd on and flip back and forth, you will soon realize as I did, the only thing thats happening is you are holding on to the idea of those movies in your collection, the actual execution of said disc in player result in soft, artifacty, blocky, blurry, haloed crap. I just can't do DDD anymore...I've had these movies sitting on the shelf hogging up space for months now, and I am not going to waste valuable hours of my or my TV's life watching sub-par content anymore!

I've only kept things on DVD that I know aren't coming to Blu for a while like LOTR, BTTF's, Abyss, Predators, Aliens, Star Wars, Indys, Godfathers...obvious big time stuff like that. With special movies like that, I'll keep the DVD until I have the Blu successor in my hands.

Past that? I did a lot of weeding out months ago.

At my height, I think I owned maybe 175 DVDs? Now it's down to about 40ish.
