Interesting. That release date would put it less than 3 months behind the theatrical release date. Seems a bit soon to me, but I hope it's right. I had heard 12/01/09 (MovieStop) prior to this.

Jeepers! Movies are coming out on BD so soon after theatrical release. It's just a matter of time before they come out in theaters, Pay-per-View, and on disc -- all at the same time.

That would be awesome! I hate going to the theaters.

Usually Direct-to-video means direct-to-crap, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if there were simultaneous releases like what you're suggesting. I've heard some studios mulling this over. Does anyone have more info on this?

One of the HD channels in my market (I forget which one, sorry) sometimes airs certain movies a day or two before it is released theatrically. Although I will say, in these cases, they have been small budget films and probably should have skipped the theatres and gone direct-to-video. One such example was a movie called Shrooms. I had been seeing commercials for its theatrical release. One night I was flipping channels and there it was in its HD entirety. I thought I was losing my mind until the next day I saw another commercial on network TV for the theatrical release.

It depends on the title. Terminator Salvation will take over 6 months from theatrical release and The Hangover is 6 months as well. Harry Potter is around 5. So it varies some. I guess it depends on the studio since those are all WB titles.

Either way, I'm happy to get this sooner than later. Baroness in HD? Yes please.

Holiday season coming very soon, so do not be surprised if most summer films are out before or just after. The after is for the returns market.

Looking forward to the next three months as lots of good movies are out to get.

Terminator
GI Joe
HP6
Star Trek
Trans ROTF

I would personally love this, i'd still go to the theatre for several movies, but i'd love to just order a new movie on a saturday night, order take out and watch it in my bed

i doubt it will ever happen for major movies, but i could see it happening for smaller less widespred movies...The recent robin williams movie World's Greatest Dad did something similar where it aired on HDnet around the same time it hit theatres...Great movie by the way, one of this years best williams performance deserves an Oscar

The movie itself left a lot to be desired, but I'm with you on this one!

That's going to be a big day. Forrest Gump, Rocky Collection, North by Northwest, The Taking of Pelham 123, and there's several more catalogs.

Have those dates ever changed or been wrong? I think November 3rd is a little too soon. Not just because it would only be a 3 month gap between the theatrical release and the home video release, but also because it's already the end of September and we haven't heard anything yet. That means that it'd be out in 6 weeks and we haven't heard anything about the title? Granted that's not the first time this has happened, but it still seems incredibly iffy to me.

December/January seem more likely to me (since there are so many large releases for November already).

I agree, I doubt it will release that soon. I'm thinking late November/December.

Except for Terminator Salvation and A Night at the Museum: Smithsonian that took over 6 months.

Good to see a release date.

I thought this was far superior to Transformers this summer.

Sure, both were popcorn flicks, but this one didn't make me roll my eyes at all.

Rachel Nichols pwns Megan Fox any day of the week.
