Default bdp s300 ps3

i just returned my bdp s300 and bought a 80g ps3 for only 100 bucks more, couldnt be happier. I put in sunshine and it looks just as good, not only that i can scroll through the menu with no lag at all and no load times. Do no buy the bdp-s300, it is a rip off

To each his own, dude. The firmware updates are improveing the load times of the S300 with each release. It is still a diamond in the rough. While it may never has some of the fine tuning of the PS3 and newer players, it plays the movie. That is all that matters to many of us.

$100 might make a big difference to some people. I agree with you though, I wouldn't consider buying any other player for BDs myself.

I'm seeing the S300 for $50 - $100 cheaper than the 40GB PS3.... anyways, there are more factors involved other than price. People see the PS3 as a gaming machine and have the attitude that owning one makes them appear to be gamers which seems immature to them... stupid really, but perceptions are powerful.

Yeah, the reason I didn't buy one is I remember what happened to my PS2 drive after a couple months of DVD watching. I could still play games, but no more DVDs. That worry when all I was going to be doing was movie watching was enough for me. In retrospect, I probably should have bought the PS3 but I'm not unhappy with my S300 at all.

I know what you mean. My PS2 never really played DVDs properly. It used to play fine until about half way through the film, then it would skip and freeze making the movie completely unwatchable. Games always played fine on it though and that's what I'd bought it for. My PS3s have been flawless though, couldn't be happier.
