Default How many people are buying 4K movies?

I was wondering how many people are buying 4K blu ray's? I do not have a 4K tv so I am not buying 4K movies. I will continue to buy blu ray's. I am happy with the look of my blu ray's and tend to get most of my blu ray's at good prices. I went from VHS to DVD and that was a huge improvement not having to worry about VHS tapes getting stuck in my vcr. Even if I get a new tv someday will just stick my collection of dvd's and blu ray's. Was in Best Buy yesterday and they have a few racks of 4K movies but mostly dvd's and blu ray's (though there movie section is shrinking).

I recently bought a 4K OLED TV and an X Box One S. My first 4K discs:

- Chappie

- Labyrinth (Best Buy Steelbook)

- Sicario

I also have a used copy of the original Ghostbusters coming in the mail. Pre-ordered the German release of The Neon Demon. Will most likely buy Suicide Squad when that is released. Considering Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Revenant.

I will mainly buy new movies or upgrades of movies I really love and will watch many times.

I got one 4K bluray movie and that is Mad Max Fury Road, I do tend to get more 4k movies but the price expensive. I will not replace any of my blu rays because 1080p is perfect for me. I did pre order Star Trek Beyond for 4K.

I agree about the prices being expensive for 4K movies.

It's a new technology that has a lot of people confused and with many questions. No need to be sorry. For those of you new to 4k uhds or considering making the switch. I have a pq and kind of a general talk thread.

I've been meaning to pick up a 4K/BD combo-pack release, just to future proof even though I doubt I'll have the required equipment anytime soon. But every time I consider getting one, it's either too expensive over the normal Blu-ray release, or it's not included with a store exclusive that I want.

I'm fine with my regular Blu-ray Discs right now. If I were to go 4K for a display I will do so with a projector to fully enjoy the experience. I do have a few 4K movies but was because it was the only way to get my 3D disc

I have more than 10 4K movies and will admit that they do, indeed, look better than the regular Blu-rays which they replaced. Star Trek, Mad Max, Watchmen, Sicario, etc show a clear upgrade.

Like I did with 3D, I have no current plans to upgrade my TV and equipment, but I might next time I move, so I've started futureproofing.

Currently own: The Revenant, Labyrinth, Warcraft, Ghostbusters (2016)

On order: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Deadpool, Lichtmond (German), Suicide Squad

On my wishlist (at the moment): The Shallows, Nerve, ID4: Resurgence

If/when I do get 4K capability, I will most definitely be buying: all three new Star Treks, Oblivion, Sicario, the original Ghostbusters, Snow White and the Huntsman, ID4, Watchmen, MoS, BvS, Lucy, whatever else excites me. I don't want to splurge too much on catalogue releases this time around though unless prices are reasonable--I prefer to focus on releases I don't already have.
