My take, having seen the entire series.
[Show spoiler]
I really liked this when I started watching it, but towards the end it got bad.
In the last couple episodes the pacing just goes haywire. It reeks of a show that ran out of money and had to wrap things up quickly.
The trial at the end makes no sense. For starters when Cooperman takes the stand it loses all credibility. No way would that have been allowed, especially since the judge had up until that point been a real hardass with no tolerance for bullshit, suddenly the plaintiff attorney is allowed to ask his own witness leading-as-hell questions with no objections and the witness is allowed to pontificate from the stand.
It also makes no sense why he won the case, virtually all of his strong evidence was suppressed and his star witness's testimony was stricken. Even as a viewer who knew everything would have ruled for the defendant given that trial.
There's also a lot of loose ends that never get tied up, making it look even more haphazardly wrapped up. William Hurt's character starts out kinda interesting but as the series progresses gets more and more ridiculous to the point that he resembles the villain in a 90s superhero movie.
