The first two that came to mind were the trailer for "The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen" and the teaser trailer for "The Ring."...

thought of this when someone said "The Shining," and decided to throw this trailer in here even though it's a fake. someone took "The Shining" and made a trailer of it like it was a family film. if you haven't seen it it's worth checking out:

One of my all time favorite trailers was the teaser for 'Spider-Man'... the one that ended with the helicopter stuck in the spiderweb between the World Trade Center. That was before 9-11, then 9-11 happened and they pulled all the trailers from the theaters.
I really enjoyed the trailer for 'Man on the Moon' I also recommend the trailer for the Albert Brooks film 'Real Life'... I didn't really care for the movie itself, but the trailer (in 3-D) was hillarious. |

Oh man, that is GOLD. Thanks so much for posting that, good stuff. My GF is a even bigger Shining fan than I am, she will love it. I got a kick out of this one for Top Gun, re-imagined. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekXxi9IKZSA |

To me, the first trailer for Lady In The Water was stunning in terms of the atmosphere it set. The dreamy, incomparably beautiful violin, the ordinary scenes of everyday life, and then...the promise of an ordinary life changed forever with something mysterious moving in the water outside. I still get chills when he whispers at the end "How many of you ARE there?" It's a shame that the trailer promised so much more than the movie could ultimately deliver.

Dark City has probably my favorite trailer of all time.
Godzilla 98 had an awesome trailer campaign, especially the teasers which were true teasers and contained footage not in the actual movie. I especially like the first one that played before The Lost World and had Godzilla's foot smash through the roof the Museum of Natural History squashing the T-Rex skeleton. Loved The Two Towers trailer as well as 300. Great use of music in both. Oh forgot the Transformers trailers. I watched those so many times last year. |
