Default New release commericals

[rant]

I'm somewhat tired of new release commercials on TV opening up with 'Coming soon/Now on DVD...' and at the end they say 'also available on hi-def blu-ray'. I think it's time the movie producers open up with the fact that all of the new releases are coming out on high-def. It's time to move forward with technology, not sideways.

seeing as how blu ray and hd dvd are still pretty new and it neither has yet to be accepted by the mass public yet it would be foolish to advertise their new releases exclusively on a media format that people do not own. its business. they advertise more for what sells.

But if they push the fact that it's coming out on superior formats it will intrest more people in that rather than DVD. I talk to people all the time at work (BB) and ask if they know what blu-ray is and a lot of the time I get a confused look on their face. Needless to say they walk out the door 5mins later with a blu-ray because I don't show them the HD garbage but if they really want to win I think they could do a little better at adverising their new relases on hi-def.

yeah but its different and easier for a good salesman to show and point out the differences between hidef and standard when a client is in store. like you said, when you mention blu ray people seem confused. in a 1 minute commercial the companies do not have the time to fully explain and are incapable to show the consumer the difference in products. they advertise last for those who know some about the subject or are already on board.

Good point. It just seems (to me) like getting peoples curiosity up would help out sales.

They should word it, "Available on high definition Blu-Ray disc and standard DVD".

Give the superior, next-gen format top billing.

I agree W/ what are you saying. 5% is not the target audience.

DVDs have still not completly replaced the VCR in many homes. W/ the increase of technology comes the increase of the development of technology. This leads to high costs for the top generation, when there are 3 generations of technology still out there.

But I'm drunk and ramble on
