Warner Bros Love in the Afternoon (1957) (Audrey Hepburn / Gary Cooper) coming from WAC

Quote:
Coming, February 2017!
LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON (1957)
NEW 2017 1080p HD REMASTER
BD50
B&W - 130 Minutes
ORIGINAL ASPECT RATIO - 1.85:1, 16 X 9 WIDESCREEN
DTS HD-Master English 2.0 Mono
English SDH

Theatrical Trailer (HD)

She plays the cello. He plays the field. She’s coltishly young. He’s worldly and mature. Lovestruck conservatory student Ariane knows she’s not like millionaire American playboy Frank Flanagan. But if she pretends to be just as much a cosmopolitan lover as he is, maybe the magic of l’amour will take hold.

May-December romance is in bloom when Billy Wilder directs and Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper meet for Love in the Afternoon. Laughs, Parisian settings, champagne elegance – Wilder, in his first collaboration with long-time cowriter I.A.L. Diamond, delivers them all in a soufflé-light homage to his filmmaking idol Ernst Lubitsch, punctuating it by casting Lubitsch alumnus Maurice Chevalier, the cinema’s ambassador of Gallic charm who smoothly plays Ariane’s detective father.

Coming in February

Awesome! Glad more Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper is being released onto Blu-ray disc! (Of course I'll wait for another sale from Amazon or Deep Discount to buy more WAC releases.)

FINALLY.

2017 is a damn good year for filling in the gaps for Audrey on Blu. Two from WB, Two from TT so far.

Now, if Paramount gets off their dumb asses and releases Roman Holiday, it will be a loverly year.

Pass. It is interesting that it's three for February (so far) after four releases in January, it looks like Warner are stepping it up.

I hope Criterion releases it if Paramount can't be bothered.

Will get this for sure. With this one and Wait until Dark already announced perhaps the Nun's Story will also get a release soon (not as essential for me as other Audrey Hepburn movies but I think that one is with Warner, and I would buy it). More importantly though, I wish that Paramount could put Roman Holiday on blu-ray.

Yknow, I actually like the old DVD cover better.

But they could slap it in a case with a printed out, black on white text paper insert and I'd be okay with it.

I'm glad they're using original poster art.

Honestly surprised this is happening so soon after Wait Until Dark. Not one of Audrey's best but a good flick that I will certainly buy being a fan of hers. The year is young but it's already kicking ass for her filmography. Just really need Roman Holiday (which I thought had been restored and shown at a TCM festival) and The Nun's Story.

Like Wait Until Dark, this will be a Day 1 purchase for me. It's nice to see a little flurry of Audrey Hepburn releases to start off the new year, especially since there have been several dry spells.

That's another reason I'm not going to complain (unless you consider personal preference a complaint).

It's the original poster art, and it's always nice to see that used on most any release.

This. I only need Roman Holiday and Paris When It Sizzles to complete my favorite Audrey films on BD, and the fact that the former is taking so long when the new restoration's been available digitally for 2 years is ridiculous.

Bravo to Warner, though, for churning these out so quickly, though!

Replacing a Saul Bass poster would be sacrilegious.

Looking at the various releases on eBay, this BD may actually be the first time the Saul Bass art has ever been used on home video - Laserdisc, VHS, DVD, none of them use it, they all just use various production stills of Hepburn and Cooper, presumably because the Bass art was considered too artsy. Glad to see it's being used for the BD.

Annoyed that I slightly over-paid for the DVD a few months ago, but it's worth the double-dip.

Thanks to you WAC released this on Blu-ray disc.
If you're in the USA you could've gotten the WAC DVD to rent from ClassicFlix.com. They have TONS if not all of the WAC DVD and Blu-ray disc catalog for rent. Fut they have a cut off year meaning anything past that year they pruposefully don't have.

The whole reason I was willing to slightly overpay was to get the OOP pressed version instead of the Archive DVD-R. I was also figuring, if they wouldn't even keep it in print on DVD, they weren't likely to press Blus anytime soon. Glad to be wrong, though.
