Finally they give Bumblebee his original buggy Beetle car design by Volkswagon, which is good to see. I still wish he had the face design of the animated original and had an actual voice, but they're following up the prior live action films.
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1422047/?ref_=fn_al_nm_3 Corey Turner is the stereographer I believe on this film, where he also contributed to the strong 3D of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows and plenty of other impressive 3D conversions under Prime Focus, now called Double Negative (DNeg) I believe. Also Transformers Last Knight and the upcoming Fallout Mission Impossible film in 3D. So hopefully this will have impressive 3D. |

Thanks. The 3D in Into Darkness was impressive for the layering overall. He definitely prefers stronger 3D which is why it's good to see his name linked to 3D projects. When I wrote to Prime Focus to mention how great of a job they did on the 3D, Corey was the one who replied to my email on behalf of Prime Focus back then.

Oh, that’s interesting and very cool that you wrote to and got a reply from them! Here’s Corey Turner’s professional CV/Resume:

The Transformers I have seen in the trailers so far look really great, with that OG look of the G1 series. Had the previous Bay movies looked like this, and at the same time got rid of that godawful humor as well as just sticking to G1 characters without introducing new ones, they would have been great I think.
I would have rather had a reboot than a Bumblebee movie, but because of the character design, I'm still looking forward in seeing this. ![]() |

Nice 3D. Medium to high medium from the look of the trailer.
It does feel like a remake of the first movie based on the trailer anyway. Person discovers vehicle which turns into robot, and then Decepticons are after robot. |

The more recent trailer with more footage looks better and I would buy this on 3D blu ray day one no hesitation. I only hope we get a 3D blu but seeing as it's Paramount I am concerned.

If I had the choice to see it in 3D of course I would have done. I get the strong sense that Paramount are indeed done with 3D Blu-ray so if you do want to see this in 3D, you had better pay for a 3D screening while you can. There are flying scenes and scenes looking down from heights as well as robot-on-robot action, all of which just looked flat to me in 2D even with better than ever effects and robot design that made my inner child squeal with delight. They look just like the original toys now and the transformations aren't impossible for the eyes to follow either. The film itself is nothing new but it's a lot shorter than any of the other Transformers movies and has enough action and humour and family stuff to stay interesting throughout without going crazy Bay-style or making you wish it would just end already. Lots of 80s tunes and visual references too - oh how we do like being reminded of the 1980s when things were so much simpler... Now I just have to decide whether to pay to see it again in 3D knowing that will be the last time I see it that way, or just never see it in 3D and not know what I am missing, like with Mission Impossible: Fallout. Bumblebee was always my favorite Transformer in the original animated series Transformers from the 80s. Then they got rid of his voice and replaced it with a radio with different stations so he can talk through the music and ads. Clever, but it wasn't true to the original character. Plus they got rid of his face and mouth and replaced it with a bug's face pretty much. But that's what happens with live action versions of cartoons. They don't always follow what the fans enjoyed, and make up their own ideas. Like when Super Mario Bros. was made into a movie...
![]() That aside, I bet the 3D will be a range of medium to strong 3D layering. |
