If I had the choice to see it in 3D of course I would have done. I get the strong sense that Paramount are indeed done with 3D Blu-ray so if you do want to see this in 3D, you had better pay for a 3D screening while you can. There are flying scenes and scenes looking down from heights as well as robot-on-robot action, all of which just looked flat to me in 2D even with better than ever effects and robot design that made my inner child squeal with delight. They look just like the original toys now and the transformations aren't impossible for the eyes to follow either. The film itself is nothing new but it's a lot shorter than any of the other Transformers movies and has enough action and humour and family stuff to stay interesting throughout without going crazy Bay-style or making you wish it would just end already. Lots of 80s tunes and visual references too - oh how we do like being reminded of the 1980s when things were so much simpler... Now I just have to decide whether to pay to see it again in 3D knowing that will be the last time I see it that way, or just never see it in 3D and not know what I am missing, like with Mission Impossible: Fallout.
