Default Metallica ... Hardwired - to Self Destruct" Nov. 18th 2016

There new single as well.

It's different. Not what I completely expected. Looking forward to see how the other songs on this new album turn out.

Edit: after a few spins it reminds me of something of Kill em'All. Mainly just straight forward without the progression found on later albums (Puppets/Justice).

Let the "it doesn't sound like Master Of Puppets II" *****ing and moaning begin. I like the song and can't wait for the album.

Your move Tool.

So pointing out facts is hate now? You'll notice I didn't say that it sucked, too early for a call on either side, but it is hard to fully listen to a recording that gives you a headache after 2 minutes.

Lighten up, Dorothy. I'm just having a little fun. I'm only preparing myself for the eventual hate-wave of "they were better in the 80's" or "they sold out on Load."

The album is loud, and yeah, it's due to brickwalling. I found this article interesting. I'm sure you've read it. And no, I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just saying I found this interesting.

I listened to it on repeat yesterday... sounded awesome through stock headphones!

The article: Several times.
The Song: While loud, isn't horrible, by any stretch, but it does really scream "see we're still metal!"

I will hate what they've become. For anyone to say they are as good as their 80's era is laughable {not that you said that}, because they aren't.

Is what they have done since ok and, at times, good musically? yes.
Is it worthy of what the band established up to and including ...And Justice For All? no.
Regarding selling out, they admit it on the documentary for "Metallica", several times.

Tempo wise it sort of reminds me of Dyers Eve. However the song just isn't that good. I don't know what has happened to Metallica's writing but it has absolutely gone into the tank since the early 90's.

I think the black album is great too. It was a change in style from their previous albums but I think it's fantastic. Everything after that has been...well...let's just say inconsistent.

Metallica hasn't made a record that didn't suck since The Black Album.

Sorry...but it's true.

Death Magnetic had a couple of great songs though.

The Day That Never Comes and All Nightmare Long. The latter is probably one of my most played Metallica songs honestly.

Great song, the drums are probably a bit too dominant, they could have been quieter in the mix, but still, I think production-wise it sounds better than "Death Magnetic" and of course "St. Anger". The song is cool too. Looking forward to the album!

I too thought that was a great album although hampered by clipping. I personally felt songs like That was Just You Life, All Nightmare Long, Judas Kiss, My Apocalypse would have been considered classics had they been made and released during their 80's heyday.

I also liked Rebel of Babylon which was one of the left overs from DM. Better production too.

Really good song. James Hetfield is still one of the best. I can't see Lars playing this live though. He'll need a an oxygen tank and a change of underwear afterwards lol

Of course it isn't. They were in their 20's. Now in their 50's. I was in my teens during their glory days. I bought MOP when I was 12 or 13. We're you the same person 10,20 or even 30 years ago? No we all change. I will say most of their material released after the Black album has been inconsistent. Some of it downright terrible. But they continue. Death Magnetic was a step in the right direction. Lulu obviously not. This new song is back to form.

Metallica streaming live from MN on Pandora tonight at 9PM CST

James Hetfield needs to get back on the sauce.

Just kidding.

...but not really.

I'm looking forward to this album, though I'm sort of indifferent to the single.

I enjoyed Death Magnetic, I am hoping this new album will be just as good, if not better than that, we shall see what happens...I dig the single and Lords of Summer, so hoping this release does not disappoint...

Load. Amazing album. Don't agree? Listen again, because you're wrong. Some of the heaviest songs they've ever written are on that album. You don't need to play fast to be good.

If selling out is doing what you want as an artist/group? Then yes, Metallica sold out back in 1984 when they recorded Fade To Black.
