I'd be hard pressed to choose between the two to be honest. I think they both offer very good 3D presentations. If it was just the movie then The Martian easily.

Martian has the best moments thanking to some nice at times strong native photography. I'd have to watch both again to compare directly. At a push i'd say the Martian (didn't vote in poll).
Both where very good 3d presentations and the way to go for both films. |

The Martian has decent native 3D with a significant amount of flatter converted segments. It could use stronger depth, but Ridley Scott has a much better sense of how to use 3D dramatically within the story. It gets my vote with no contest.
The Force Awakens isn't planned or shot very well for 3D. Stereo D saved J.J. Abram's back with one of the best-looking conversions of all time though. |

With Ridley Scott's mostly filmed 3D in The Martian, he sometimes opts for low medium and mild 3D during the dialog shots. The mars landscapes are awesome though, with a number of impressive 3D shots. My favorite 3D shots are in the plant garden from the ground view, and the shard dust storm. Had he offered a more consistent experience in his films (especially Exodus 3D, which was all over the place with the 3D range), it would be a tougher choice. Now here's hoping his next film gets back to 3D! ![]() |

Unfortunately, you'll need a different TV or projector to fix it. DLPs have no crosstalk. Most passive models and various newer active displays have reduced crosstalk in comparison to older, problematic active displays.

To be clear, active and dlp link dlps displays have no crosstalk (polarised dlp's can though due to how polarisation works, this is what cinemas use). Things like the psvr will also have none as each eye essentially has it's own screen entirely. Last edited by Suntory_Times; 07-19-2017 at 02:55 AM. |

I might play about with the settings, see if there is something I have wrong on it. I did some checks this morning and noticed that when I'm in 3D mode it had some motion flow on, which I normally don't have on. It was daytime when I checked (I closed the blinds) and I rechecked some of the early dark force Awakens dark scenes (like early Rey in the Star Destroyer, scrounging) and it didn't seem to ghost. Anyone have any experience with the Sony SXRD projectors and 3D? I'm seriously considering one of those, for 4K and 3D. |
