Do I select bitstream or pcm in the audio settings to play movies?

Sure glad you folks are around!

Thank you!

Hi,

I can try to answer your question but ...

What Blu Ray player is it?
Do you have it hooked up to a Receiver via HDMI or Optical or Analog Output?
And possibly,.. what receiver is it?

Me too.

I have a PS3 & a Onkyo TX-Sr803 connected VIA HDMI 1.3

Currently set to bitstream because it seems louder, wider & uses more channels more often [7.1]

Should I leave it or switch to Linear PCM?

If you set the PS3 to PCM you should get PCM uncompressed 5.1 audio from the reciever, but it is an older model so you may have to change a setting on the reciever to so it knows that you want PCM audio.
If you want 7.1 the disc will have to say PCM 7.1. So, part depends on what the disc is incoded with & what you want, 5.1 PCM uncompressed or 7.1 dts say. As time passes, more & more movies will be released with PCM 7.1 uncompressed, but for now Bitstream will work, so you can get 7.1 but keep an eye on the back on the case to see if it says 7.1 PCM then switch it over to PCM.

PCM uncompressed is the best audio you & anyone can get.

This was my previous receiver and I believe that he won't have to change anything in the receiver as long as every digital format is set to auto.If everything's right it will light up MULTICHANNEL on the front with PCM in very small letters. If I remember correctly.
