It reads: Thunder Road (Special Edition) (Blu-ray + DVD)
Studio listed is Cinedigm. I'm pretty sure that's erroneous listing, though. Lots of Shout Factory releases are listed there as a Cinedigm releases. It could be a Shout Factory/Timeless Media release or from some other label. |

Years after the movie there was a book wrote with the same title. It talked about moonshine and its history. After reading it found out that the movie is basicaly a true story about a runner. The rought Mitchum takes in the movie is the same. Can't remember his name but it said he was a legend among the runners.

Years later, I ran his name by my step-father, who was born and raised in West Tennessee, and he responded " that man was a legend throughout the country !! " then, I introduced him to that man's son. He shook his hand, saying " it's an honor to meet you Sir." Funny, I brought this Classic up in a recent Mitchum thread here, and very few knew what I was talking about !?!?!? I just wrote it off to them likely being no older than 30. Nice to see THIS thread though. ![]() |

Yes, you are so correct. As far as I'm concerned, the "greatest villain" in movie history is the Reverend Harry Powell (L*O*V*E/H*A*T*E) in Charles Laughton's NIGHT OF THE HUNTER---- as portrayed by Robert Mitchum. THUNDER ROAD will join that 1950s classic on my shelf.

Redrunner, the song is catchy, but you don't hear the Robert Mitchum performance of the song in the film. The film opens with a plaintive, folk-ballad performance of the song by some other male singer. The film version of the song plays more like a lament.
