Default Pleased w/ Underworld Unrated

just got my copy yesterday, popped it in to watch it.

first, obligatory kate beckinsale worshipping: kate beckinsale has never looked so good in pleather. yum.

seriously though, i'm very pleased. as advertised, PQ and AQ are awesome. and this is the first time i've seen the unrated cut, but it seems more like a director's cut to me. lots of added scenes that fluff out the storyline and provide it with more coherency (not that a plotline that centers around a war between vampires and werewolves ever had THAT much hope for coherency to begin with).

This was the first time I seen the movie so I don't know what was added footage. I was impressed. That vampire chick on the train, Amelia, she was way hotter than Kate.

I thought it look great. The PQ was covered a tad by the blue hint and the natural darkness of the movie. I love these things about the movie though so no complaint.

I bought Evolution on Tue as well. The PQ seems a bit worse.. the Mbps rating on my PS3 rarely goes above 25 while Underworld was between 25-30+ often. I guess this is the difference between AVC Mp4 and the Mp2 that Evolution used? Too bad AVC was not used on both.

Unless the movie was shot digital some grain seems to be normal.

I bought both this and Underworld Evolution on Blu a week ago from Amazon. Hopefully I'll get them tomorrow. I loved these movies. I'd be interested to see if they come out with a third one.

Watch Underworld: Evolution and you'll get to see her in action a little bit at the beginning. I still think Kate is hard to beat.

Happy here too.

Very happy I got $8 back when I sold my DVD version of this to use towards the Blu Ray.

Good film and lots of fun and the sound is tops.

I'm going to watch my copy tonight after I finish Wyatt Earp. I couldn't sit through 3 hours last night. So I have about an hour left. I will watch Underworld after that today. Cant wait since Evolution looked awesome as well!! Thanks for the review.
Mischa.

I believe U:Evolution is BD25 using MPEG-2 and 5.1 PCM. So they can't push the encode to the max as much as Underworld:Unrated, which I think is BD50.

I noticed some in the backround when Michael and Lucian were talking, but other than that I thought they did a great job with the transfer and audio.

IMO Underworld 2 looks as good as Underwolrd, which surprised me considering that #2 is mpeg2/bd25/lpcm and #1 is AVC/BD50/lpcm

I give them both 4 out of 5 for PQ and 5 for audio.

Really? I watched them back to back and Evolution looked noticeably worse yet still good of course. I think the second movie is a bit darker than the first so maybe that was just playing tricks but the faces and close ups did not have the detail of the first at all.

Watched last nite.
The VQ was good, but I wasn't wowed.
OTOH, the SQ was incredible....the best LPCM track I have ever heard.
I haven't heard another BD that uses the Surrounds as much as this one.
Yowza!!
What an aural treat this is....definitely something to show off to friends.

The only thing I can think to say about is "nicely done, very VERY nicely done"

SPOILER ALERT:

But she was also way DEADer than Kate... Selene not only looks good, she can hold her own in a firefight

The Amelia character was Zita Görög, a Hungarian model.
