Don't know if there's a thread similar or had been posted already. Sorry if the title don't make sense. What I meant is do anyone clean their collection as in removing some blu rays from their collection? I see peoples with over 1,500 and up blu rays. I could see myself owning around 1,000 blu rays but, more than that. Don't think there's 1,500 movies that I could own.
Since I started buying blu rays in January. I have not clean my collection up till today. From January till today I owned 549 (according to my forum collection) blu rays and by removing some blu rays today I now own 540. Movies I remove from collection ] 30 Days of Night: Dark Days Adventureland Babel Black Swan Changeling Darkman Halloween Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides Without a Paddle Nature's Calling [Show spoiler]

I'm often thinning out my Blu-rays.
If I see one which I liked but didn't love, I will let the next person enjoy it. I keep the UV copy in case I want to see it again later. |

About once every six months I might let go about 5-6 titles that may have been decent but not great. Not too many though.

I had almost 1800 6 months ago and now I am down to a little less than 1500. I have already put aside a couple hundred more that I will get rid of in the coming months. I have essentially been getting rid of titles that I have not watched in years with little desire to watch them again any time soon.

Every few months I go through & get rid of titles I know ill never watch again. I would've had about 800 or so BDs if I hadn't started doing that earlier in the year. Now I try to stick just to genres I love like Asian & Horror films with the occasional big name release if it's a series I already like (Jurassic Park, MI for ex). I still have plenty more I'll probably get rid of before years end.

Only had a Blu collection for three years, so don't have that many yet. I'm only going to buy Blu's I really want & that's it.
Now, I am unloading quite a few crummy DVD's...but that's another thread... |

I've parted with some. Not many.
Drive & Platoon - I recently moved in with my girlfriend and she's got the Steelbooks so there was no need for my amaray copies. Traded them in a few days ago. The Exorcist - traded it not long after buying the complete anthology. Natural Born Killers - traded the theatrical cut when Warners UK announced they were finally releasing the Director's Cut. The NeverEnding Story - traded it with the intention of replacing it with the 30th Anniversary Edition (which my girlfriend's bought me for Christmas, yay yay yay yay yay yay). Night Train Murders - traded the Blue Underground disc when 88 Films announced they were releasing it as part of their Italian Collection series. Scanners 3 - it was shit. Videodrome - traded it when Arrow announced they were releasing it uncut. |

Went from 800 to around 27.
I was buying tv series I was never going to watch again, awful movies to complete franchises, etc. My criteria now is what I feel are perfect to near perfect movies and they could be on repeat for 24 hours straight and I'd still love them. |

I built my storage thinking 500 would be plenty. I cull from my cabinets and store less watched titles to a guest bedroom with a HD TV and an old blu-ray player on a constant basis. I only sell titles that are the occasional blind buy that I don't care for at all. I thought collections over 1000 were insane. Now I realize that within a couple of years I'll probably meet the insanity criteria.

My collection is growing and there are a few films that I will never watch again. I've been thinking about tossing them on eBay but haven't gotten rid of any yet. Then there are also a few films that I have doubles of from upgrading to better releases that I also need to get rid of.

Some would probably say so, but I blind bought so many films it was ridiculous, still so many still in shrink wrap and I knew I'd never get around to watching them. I also sold off a lot of Criterion's that I didn't really care for and made a decent amount on those.
