They might just to counter DVD sales.
If ppl see BD at the same price or less than the DVD counterpart, than they might flock to BD and leave DVD.

I'm sure there will still be deals on catalog product as time goes forward. Look at all the DVD deals that exist, and DVD is clearly dominant. Maybe not bogo though.

Once HD-DVD is gone (hopefully very soon) I don't think there will be BOGOs anymore. I believe the BDA will sell movies at MSRP for a while to try to recoup some of the money they lost competing with HD, but they will realize that at $30 per movie there just isn't as high of a demand. At that point I think prices will steadily decline until they are somewhere between $15 to $25 depending on whether the BD is a catalog or new release.

Yes we'll still get them. They still need to get people to buy the discs, and more importantly addicted to buying the discs. They might be a bit more selective in what titles are included and we will probably see more bargain bin type sales instead of BOGO's but the sales and crazy deals will still be available for Blu-ray once HD DVD is dead, I guarantee it.

I'm hoping they will follow the DVD model where new release prices are cut for the first week to boost opening week sales. Afterward the disc will be sold for MSRP or near MSRP. Finally after the release has been out for a long time, they go on sale for 8-10 dollars.

Finally counted my collection last night after a couple months. To my surprise I have well over 100... all thanks to BOGOs. I'd have 50 if there were never BOGOs... many titles I never would have paid full price for I grabbed cause they were 10 to 15 bucks.

BOGOs kill me cause you can't pass them up.

Once the market matures(and it will get a lot bigger now that WB is exclusive) I expect to see pricing much more in line with standard dvd pricing. I don't think you'll see many $5 bargain bin blu-rays yet, but as more units are sold the studios will lower msrp to entice marginal buyers.

There will still be BOGOs until Paramount and Universal changes color. In fact, I suspect the BDA might increase the range of BOGO titles just for CES 2008. After that, MSRP will be reduced to foster consumer adoption of BD instead of DVD. And then of course, with mass adoption price level comes in line with DVD.

By the way, get your Amazon BOGOs while you still can!

I think b1g1's will happen after HD-DVD = betamax. Next, BD has DVD to take on!

IMHO .. BOGO is happening more frequently only because of the HIDEF war .. one of the advantages = COMPETITION. If we only have one HIDEF standard then pricing will be a little bit more static than what we are getting now, it will come down eventually but in a much slower pace due to adoption rate.
