It's a stunning set, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend $101.78 + however much shipping's going to run.

I don't mind the price so much, but I would want to buy it from a source I trusted. I do not trust any ebay listing for movies. Some technical details would be nice to have, too.

That eBay shop is the official and only way for international selling of Diskino releases now.
2BD50, region free, restored feature presented in the correct 2.35:1 aspect ratio. More than 300-minute extras were included.

Really wanted to keep buying these....have 10 prior releases, but at $150.00 + with shipping & PayPal fee..for 1 movie..that's just crazy! Even with a limited run of 150...no way I can justify that price. I'm sure it will sell out but I'm out.

Mine arrived today!

Confirmed the theatrical version used the 4K restoration source.

A comparison with the original cancelled design:

Wow! This is a stunning set!
Can you please confirm if the TC is indeed the new 4K scan?
edit: never mind, you said that it is.

I guess it doesn't look so bright as it was for the 3D edition, right?

if you could grab any screenshots it would be great!

I've browsed a bit the theatrical edition in this which is from the new 4K scan.
Fortunately I haven't bought this set!

The bluray is UNWATCHABLE!!

besides the terrible macroblocking at times (most evident in opening titles), they haven't corrected the brightness which was meant to be seen in 3D, with the glasses that darken the film.
As it is now in 2D with the same brightness, it is a MESS. Literally it's unwatchable, and I'm sure it wasn't meant to be seen like this. (this is so evident from the very start in the credits, where the background should be black and now it is grey)
i tried to correct it a bit, darken the image, change the gama etc., but it's not use. It gets worse!

This is my brief review of the theatrical version bluray.
i would advise to keep away from this set.
(unless you want it for the packaging which seems gorgeous indeed)

The black levels shows no words other than terrible. It's confirmed that quite a few self-made blu-ray master of WCL or MLIFE got all kinds of encoding issues, like wrong color levels, visible bandings and blockings. Basically, the Hualu Encoding Projector they used is to blame, with the operator lacking of good x264/h264 practice. Fortunately from now on, they decide to do the master at a well-known studio in Hong Kong. Hope to have better experiences on MLIFE Exclusive 025 & 029.

Back to this film, most visible macroblockings showed in opening credit, and other parts of the feature got fine. The main problem is the terrible color tuning and lacking of brightness correction, which showed even worse compared to ITA 3D edition. It is a pity that with 4K remaster we still could not get a proper blu-ray to be enjoyed at home.

I made some comparisons of CHN(22000 kbps) and ITA(20000 kbps)
