Makes sense. They don't want to pull a Paramount and drop their planned titles immediately. That only pisses off the consumer, especially following xmas.
In the meantime, they are sending a clear statement that Blu is their format of choice. Day and date releases with SD DVD make it easy for the consumer to choose Blu for HD. Delaying HD DVD is like a consolation prize - at least it's still coming - they don't want it messing up potential Blu sales or stealing the spotlight in any fashion. |
