Default LONGMIRE, formerly on A&E, now on Netflix

Having to restart this thread after the last one was lost to the database crash.

I've really been enjoying this show. It's a must-watch every week. The cast is fantastic (I just wish that there was more Katee Sackhoff). There hasn't been a disappointing episode yet.

It is a great show with a great cast. I only have two problems with it: I get Walt is a man's man but I wish he'd let Vic do a little more as Sackhoff is the reason I started watching it. Also, the per capita homicide rate in Absaroka County, Wyoming makes Detroit seem like a safe house.

I've watched the first couple of episodes and there pretty good but what is with A&E editing/bleeping certain choice words?

If they weren't going to be on able to say them on air then why have them in the script?

I feel like this would be a better show as a serial drama rather than episodic... and that would definitely help the per capita homicide rate you're talking about.

The books were more slow burn, get to know the characters (not to say there wasn't killing... but it was a lot less)... but then again, they don't seem to be caring much about that.

One of my summer projects is The Killing which Im enjoying very much. This long, seasonal approach to solving one crime is so much more satisfying than the solve a murder in 43 minutes approach.

I didnt notice any words being beeped...maybe its done on the provider level.

I have DirecTV and I always watch the premier showing of each episode and they have never bleeped anything out. From what I've gathered on other forums, A&E bleeps and edits episodes after the premier of each new episode. So anytime they show a repeat (even if it's the encore later at night) it will be edited.

A&E Renews Western 'Longmire' for Second Season

Quote:
The cable network has given renewal orders to the Western drama starring Robert Taylor and Katee Sackhoff, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

The Wyoming-set drama marks the third series renewal for studio Warner Horizon Television on Friday alone, following TNT's Rizzoli & Isles and Dallas.

Created by John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin and based on the book by Craig Johnson, the drama that marked Battlestar Galactica alum Sackhoff's return to series TV opened well out of the gate four weeks ago.

The premiere's 4.1 million total viewers ranks as A&E's most-watched scripted series debut ever and the highest-rated new cable scripted hourlong drama of the year in viewers and adults 25-54. Longmire's most recent outing drew 3.8 million total viewers.

Longmire airs at 10 p.m. Sundays on A&E.
Great news! I hope they release the show on blu-ray.

That would explain it as I usually DVR the late night/early morning showings for a lot of shows. It still doesn't make a lot of sense?

Love Lou Diamond Phillip's role...the man has aged very well. Not necessarily wanting a season long procedural, but would be nice to see a 2 or 3 parter next year with Walt going against a tough adversarial who really tests him to the limit.

Been awhile since this thread was posted in. Gotta say I absolutely love this show and it's one of the few from recent years that has me hooked. Normally I wait to buy TV shows until the series is ended and I can buy a complete set but this will be one case where I'll snag Season 1 on the first day. Sure you may have throw a bit of logic out every now and again but the characters and stories absolutely make it worth the suspension. Have to say my favorite episode is number 5. The ending playing that AWOLNATION song with the dog soldier and Walt's ominous flashback was superb. Can't wait for season 2!

Looks like Amazon is releasing Season 1 on DVD on 28 May. Anyone know if we'll have a Bluray release as well?

This show really needs a Blu-ray release, if only to show off the beautiful scenery.

It's one of my top 3 current TV shows. I find it interesting that both it and one of my other top 3 current TV shows, Justified, are strictly speaking crime dramas, but tonally they seem more like Westerns.

Not every case has to be a murder too. That would cut down on the body count. If that homicide rate were real, Branch should've won the election by a landslide.

I never thought Katee Sackhoff was particularly hot, but something about the way she carries herself and wears that uniform on this show is
