Default WB, Blu-ray and the death of the BOGO?

Now that WB has crossed party lines and the future looking pretty good for Blu-ray's world dominance, what is in store for the almighty BOGO. Now that it looks like there is nothing to compete with in the future, will the BOGO's go by the wayside. I mean what would be their incentive now (at least 6 months out and beyond since there is nothing right now that would point to HD-DVD polling over and dying)? Any thoughts?

My wallet (and probably the majority of us here) has gotten smaller in the last 2-3 months and my collection has exploded since the BOGO's started popping up. I hope if BOGO's do become more scarce that with economies of scale the prices of the movies will come down to what a BOGO would bring the per item price to. Here's to lower prices!

I totally agree, my collection has grown entirely because of the bogo's. I still think they are still the best sales going. Even regular dvds, new release or even slightly older dvds can't beat that deal. So I say here's to bogo's!

That might be true, but I don't think BOGO's are going away forever, we are still going to get bogo's here on the blu side, but not as often.

They still ahve to push mainstream adoption. BOGOs will now be less frequent, but probably will surround things like PS3 pricedrops, holidays and hot new titles

After the defeat of HD-DVD is complete, the battle for the hearts and minds of SD-DVD users must be won. BOGO may still be used as a tactic in that offensive.

Default BOGO's are going to continue

HD (movies) has approx 3-4.5% market penetration today (depending on whose #'s you read). EVERYONE has an interest in increasing the market penetration as quickly and massively as possible. BOGO's are one of the best marketing tools they (studios) have to do this. While a decisive blow has been struck for the ONE DISC TO RULE THEM ALL this is NOT over.

Default I think prices may drop a bit

I have a feeling that prices will drop a bit this year. Sure, we might not see the BOGO free offers that often anymore (although we will for a while since HD-DVD still lives on for now), but I think prices will improve in our favor.

The key question is if studios give amazon some monetary per disc discount support for these sales. Does any insider know?

If so then I expect to see future Universal and Paramount BOGO - LOL

I believe the Harry Potter series has been re-added to the current BOGO
