Default Death to "BOGO"!

I am on a crusade to kill the acronym "BOGO." BOGO does not accurately reflect the transaction. Two discs are being sold. None my receipts show any free discs.

The "BOGO" name also give the HD DVD crowd something to feed on. They love to cry foul because they claim the Blu-ray studios are giving their discs away. They are not giving the discs away. They are selling them at half price when purchased in pairs.

From now on, I propose BOGO become B2FO (Buy 2 @ 50% off). Other acronyms considered, but not BOGO. (BOGO is acceptable is the item is really free.)

you Buy One and then you Get One... free. you technically buy 2 but they reimburse you the second.. so your not buying 2 at half price but 2 for 1... if it was half price you'd be able to just buy one at half the price... in these offers you HAVE to buy 2 to get the deal
nice try though
A for effort

I saw the acronym BOGO on a sign at GNC in the mall. It goes way beyond Blu-ray. It's now a widely used word for marketing.

BoGo. Isn't that much better with the variance in capitalization?

BOGO is memorable and has great mouth feel. It passes all those great marketing tool factors.

Here ya go:

You Have to Buy Two to Get Half Price on Both or YHtB2tGHPoB (it's pronounced just how it's spelled).

And I don't care if the HD DVD crowd feeds on it or not. I'm getting great prices for movies!

Sight. Sound. ...and now Taste.

I like it! Just another added benefit of Blu-ray over HD-DVD.

The word "BOGO" is here to stay in marketing. You might as well learn to love it, you're going to see it on all kinds of sales, not just high def.

What's wrong with B2A5 - a distant cousin of R2D2.

BOGO isn't going away, but I know where you're coming from.

I love BOGO's. I don't care if HD DVD people take this and run with it, this is a FANTASTIC way to get people into Blu-Ray. Especially PS3 owners. I've already convinced a lot of people to buy their first 2 Blu-Ray movies this time around (posted about the BOGO at Gamefaqs PS3 board) they're just loving it over there by the way.

This is what we want, a perfect way to convince fence sitters to make their first purchase and strengthen our user base. So what you need to do is not only buy movies that you want, but get the word of this out there NOW. Post about it in other forums, especially game forums not Blu-Ray ones like this because everyone already knows about it and is a fan.
The point is to extend the user base, that should be our number 1 priority. This isn't about the sales numbers for this week, we were going to win anyways.

So get out there and tell everyone you know about this. Not only Blu-Ray buyers, but everyone.

tell our enemies that they may take away our lives, but they'll never take our BLU-RAY

yeah, its just a marketing tool. And if you notice the receipts will say like $15.00 and $14.99. so that you cant buy both, 1 being 29.99 and the other being 0.00 and return the 29.99 one and keep the other one literally for free. Kind of makes you wonder if they figured these things out by trial and error years ago =)
