Valkyrie - 5/19/09 - Blu-ray Forum

It'll be a great year for MGM in terms of their Blu-ray titles go, too many coming in the months of April and May. Now, another addition is the Bryan Singer film Valkyrie for an estimate April release.

I just read on "The Digital Bits" that Valkyrie is coming out on 5/19. It will include (on the special edition only) several very interesting sounding featurettes.

Now I know a lot of people said Tom Cruise's performance was horrible, and, to be honest, I have not seen the film.

But the idea of a film about the assassination of Hitler REALLY sounds interesting...and it will be a day one purchase for me!!

Will I be satisfied or could it be a let down?

I missed this film in the theaters. I'm interested, I'll definitely check this out on rental.

Tom Cruise was as good as he has been in anything else.

This movie was a letdown. The suspense seemed 'forced', even though you already knew how it was going to end. However, it is a good example of the superior acting skills the foreign actors hold over Tom Cruise. He was good in the first few opening lines when he was speaking in German, but then you're like.....oh.....it's Cruise playing himself again.

Singer's big mistake was not having German accents for the main characters. It would've brought more validity if they did.

It was an entertaining movie and I like it, but the fact that they didn't use German accents was really crappy and I would buy the movie in a sale :P

Why would German accents make a difference?

Would it not be more realistic to have German actors speaking in German? Why would a WW2 German officer be speaking English, with a German accent, anyways? Should be done like The Longest Day.

can't wait for this on BD! the audio was outstanding in theater. i don't understand all the hate on tom cruise. the movie was so good because of the rest of the actors..i thought cruise did a fine job with this role.

Ditto. But the last time I checked it was 27.99 so I wont buy it.

saw it in theaters, it's pretty good, I definitely recommend it for at least a rent.
