October 2017 50 Movie Challenge: Horror/Halloween - Blu-ray Forum

October Recommendations Category: Horror/Halloween* (5 movies)
* 5 movies you haven't seen before from the titles recommended by other members. In your initial tracking post, everyone list 5-10 horror or Halloween-related films that you think others may not have seen and may enjoy. Then for the ones you watch for this category, mention who recommended the film in your post.

October Theme:
For October, of course, the focus is Halloween/Horror. However, since people will still want to watch other films as well (new theatrical or blu releases, etc), we want to leave room for those as well.
So this month, in addition to the recommendations category you may pick ANY categories of your choice, but at least 5 categories (including the recs) must be Halloween/horror-related. You may, of course use more categories for horror (or even all 10 if you wish!) , but the minimum is 5.

Edit: Horror-ish TV series or Halloween-themed episodes are also acceptable, with the usual rules (figure 2 hours of TV = 1 movie, so like 2 episodes of an hourlong show, or 4 episodes of half-hour shows)

Note: If horror is not your thing, you can lean more toward thrillers, or even family-friendly Halloweenish titles (Monsters vs Aliens, Casper, Nightmare Before Christmas, etc)

My Horror/Thriller Recommendations:

* Murder Party is the first feature film by Blue Ruin and Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier
* I know Dylan Dog has a bad rep, but it's actually a pretty fun flick. It's a movie that had its budget slashed to nothing at the last minute, and that shows, but it's still fun. Brandon Routh and Sam Huntington are great.

Plus there are these that I would highly recommend for Halloween month, but I stupidly wasted them in last month's Teen/School recommendations:

* Finished the rest of the Final Destination series. Final Destination 4 and 5 are just okay mindless horror flicks, but the 3D is excellent. They are exactly the kind of movie 3D is best for - embrace the gimmick and have fun with it!
* Re-watched the original Nightmare on Elm Street tonight, this time in the theater. I was too young when it first came out, so I like getting the opportunity to see stuff like that back on the big screen. Now starting to rewatch the rest of the series.
