If they really want to celebrate Mickey, they would develop a feature animation around him and his gang. Way back when they had yet to have a 50th animated feature it was supposed to be something called The Search for Mickey in which Mickey went missing and Basil of Baker Street (from The Great Mouse Detective) had to investigate by questioning characters from all of Disney's animated classics. It sounds like a great idea and I don't understand why they dumped it.

Michael Eisner wanted to make a segment of Fantasia 2000 with all the Disney characters and their children walking by the screen to the tune of "Pomp and Circumstance". The surviving animators from the original Fantasia were invited over to view the story reel. It did not go well. Ward Kimball (bless him), said, "This is the biggest piece of @#$% I've ever seen!" Later, Roy had to tell Eisner he couldn't get anyone to work on the short because everybody hated it. Eisner angrily relented, but demanded the music stay in the film. Hence -- Donald Duck's "Pomp and Circumstance" sequence (which is actually quite charming -- not up there with anything from the original Fantasia, but still charming).

Anyway, Basil trying to find Mickey by talking to a lot of Disney characters sounds more like product placement than a story. Sounds more like a "House of Mouse" episode, right?

Best Buy's website says 2 disc... however, the actual link seems broken. Here is the search listing. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchp...=960&keys=keys

Disney doesn’t seem to do much with Mickey Mouse outside Kingdom Hearts and that Clubhouse show for preschoolers. Warner is even worse with Bugs Bunny. I doubt we’ll ever see a feature again with either one (except maybe a Space Jam sequel for the latter).

Would've loved a full theatrical films set. But maybe it won't be too bad?

Look at it this way; if it sells, they'll do more.

Pipedream, but I would go gaga if Disney put the entire Walt Disney Treasures line on Blu-ray. Looks like we'll just have to settle for this for now.

I was just thinking about Mickey the other day. While still recognizable, he's been mostly irrelevant for decades. My kids were pretty "meh" about Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I blame Disney. They haven't been very good about promoting their legacy.

Anyway, I'm curious to know what will be on this. Stuff from here?

What about Mickey's role in the Kingdom Hearts series?

Mickey's never disappeared. They use him. But he's lost his cachet as a cultural icon. It's no biggie for Disney since they've found plenty of monetizable substitutes in Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars.

When I hear Disney, I think of Mickey Mouse. My daughter knows and loves him. She loves Clubhouse, Roadster Racers and the new shorts. I've introduced her to the classic shorts via youtube and she loves them.
