Rampart Blu-Ray

Rampart Blu-Ray Review

Rampart (2011) has received a release date of May 15, 2012, courtesy of Millennium Media.

Rampart stars Woody Harrelson, Ben Foster, Steve Buscemi, Jon Bernthal, Sigourney Weaver, Robin Wright, Brie Larson, Anne Heche, Ice Cube, Cynthia Nixon, Jon Foster, and Robert Wisdom. The film is directed by Oren Moverman.

Quote:
Los Angeles, 1999. Officer Dave Brown (Woody Harrelson) is a Vietnam vet and a Rampart Precinct cop, dedicated to doing "the people's dirty work" and asserting his own code of justice, often blurring the lines between right and wrong to maintain his action-hero state of mind. When he gets caught on tape beating a suspect, he finds himself in a personal and emotional downward spiral as the consequences of his past sins and his refusal to change his ways in light of a department-wide corruption scandal seal his fate.

Brown internalizes his fear, anguish and paranoia as his world, complete with two ex-wives who are sisters, two daughters, an aging mentor dispensing bad advice, investigators galore, and a series of seemingly random women, starts making less and less sense. In the end, what is left is a human being stripped of all his pretense, machismo, chauvinism, arrogance, sexism, homophobia, racism, aggression, misanthropy; but is it enough to redeem him as a man?

Does anyone know if this is going to be one of those releases where only the combo gets the special features or gets better/more special features?

The regular version has a great pre-order price and it's in my gold box. It's going to be a blind buy, so I'm hoping I can get this good deal without getting one of those "movie only" releases.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Why is the price so low on this first run movie?
That's got to be a typo!

I can't be 100% positive of course, but none of their previous releases had the special features exclusive to the combo pack. I would be surprised if this was any different.

I think your question ties in well with Veronica's....cheaper as it's only the Blu....but will it include extras? Or do we need to buy the $19.99 Blu/DVD/Digital Copy Combo??

To Killo's point, here's the list of Millennium Media blu titles....and here is some info from a quick comparison.

Looks like Puncture was set to have 2 releases, one plain (no bonus features) and the second a Blu/DVD/Digital Copy Combo, but that combo hasn't been released.

With Faces in the Crowd, it appears the single disc includes 3 short featurettes, amounting to about 20-minutes of stuff. There isn't any detail on the Blu/DVD/Digital Copy Combo....seems this site may have reviewed the wrong version

Not enough info on either version of A Little Bit of Heaven.

While Trespass looks to have only 1 extra on the Blu/DVD/DD Combo.....not any info on the single-disc version.

The little amount/lack of special features on the movies you listed isn't because of single disc releases and combo packs. It's because Millennium typically has very little in the way of special features with their movies. They aren't like what Warner and Disney do with some of their release where the special features are only on the combo packs (or most expensive combo pack).

This and The Grey are dueling it out so far for this year's worst blind buy.

I liked the movie but would recommend a rental first. It's not something I would buy just cause of lack of 're-watchability'. I thought Woody was really good in it.

Reviving a long dead thread!

I got this in a 10 movie indie pack, 30 mins in so far. Was the cameraman drunk?!! And jeez, that scene with Buscemi and the endless circling was awful. More boring than gritty but maybe it'll pickup?...

edit: I actually liked the ending, but for the most part it felt like a "gritty" movie for people who mostly watch lifetime movies. Some interesting elements and premise but just never reached its potential.

Haven't seen this yet but remember Woody got a lot of backlash on Reddit for basically using an AMA to promote this movie.
