Default How will they spin this?

I wonder how the HD-DVD camp and all their fanboys spin this one?

No spin required. They will acknowledge Warner's decision while still extolling the virtues of the now dead HD DVD format. At this point, I see Toshiba producing a Blu-ray player by the end of the year with Paramount and Universal neutral at the very least.

Toshiba will more than likely come out with a cheap dual format player first but who knows.

I think they're still talking about yield rates and stuff, but secretly, they're damn pissed because Mystik will never spare them a glance.

Actually Toshiba in a roundabout way already have a BD device out there. It's the BD-UP5000 dual format player with a Samsung label. I believe this was a joint deal with Toshiba. The innards on the HD-DVD side were basically the XA2 HD-DVD player. I think this product came into being through the Toshiba/Samsung coop company called TSST http://www.tsstorage.com/corp_e/indexe.html

Toshiba's stake in this company is 51%. The BD-UP5000 player got the Samsung logo for obvious reasons.

This is all speculation on my part, but it makes sense if you really think about it. Toshiba is going to need to make some "transition" hardware if they still want to be in the HDM game. The BD-UP5000 is just the first step into the Blu-ray hardware market.

They are already talking about Digital Downloads with out DRM. Mabe MS will run a dedicated T1 fiber optic cable to everyones house at no charge so it wont take 8 hours to down load a HD movie.

Not to shoot down your sarcastic reply, because I loved it... but... A T1 line isn't very fast. My $30 DSL line twice as fast (3.0Mbps), it's just not dedicated so it isn't "guaranteed" to be 3.0Mbps. T1 is guaranteed 1.54Mbps.

So in the theme of your post, maybe MS will run us all an OC3 (155Mbps). :-)

She and the other Suicide Girls must be busy. Even their website is down because of an overabundance of guests....

Thanks for the correction. Dang, we just gave them another arguing point.
Mabe MS will get the Brain thing from the Riddler on Batman and just feed HD into our head.

They are continuing to tell others to hold strong, and that they will never buy a Blu player...

God, I just hope the more insane red ants really do quit HDM and get off all our forums. I say "our" forums, because HDM = Blu-ray now.
