Default Best Buy supports which?

I was at my Best Buy and another in a neiboring city and I noticed it had more HD then Blu. I thought Best Buy wasnt picking a side?.. or have they?

Im not good at all this stuff so I dont know exactly which store is backing which player.

Unofficially they're all shifting to Blu and have been for the last several months.

It really depends on the local manager. Here in my town of Iowa the Bluray and HD are about even. Its nothing to be alarmed about.

Oh ok. I was getting worried that there would be less and less Blu

yeah the funny thing here is that all the display units on their tvs are blurays but every conversation i heard from a csr selling a tv they were pushing the hddvd, probably more the price issue then anything making it an easier upsell. movie wise my best buy has equal space for both formats, for now at least.

if BestBuy has 100 HD-DVD players sitting in the back and wasting space, then they'll try to push that more so they can get rid of them.

however, they make more money when pushing Blu-Ray players. The profit margin on the HD-DVD is lessor than Blu-Ray.

At my local Best Buy, I see more Blu-Ray demo in the front as you get near the entertainment center. I don't recall seeing any demo for HD-DVD.

I have 2 Best Buys within 10 miles of me, one is full size and the other seems to be about 3/4 scale. Anyway the full size store Blu section has been growing over the 4th qtr. They have about 7 sections of Blu and about 4 of HD, which they have also moved over to a isle with regular DVDs. The "3/4" store, opened Nov 16th and I was surprised that they have a even split in the same isle. I have been keeping a eye on both so we will see how this changes things. I would kind of expect to see HD-DVD to not be reordered as it sells.

I have 4 different Best Buys I usually go to and I have noticed over the past few months that the Blu section is getting bigger and bigger and the HD sec is getting smaller or at least staying the same. Now it is just a matter of time before it is starting to slowly disappear.

It appears that each region is different. Here in Seattle most of the stores now have a whole side of the isle dedicated to Blu (5 sections) and HD DVD has been cut down to 2 sections or at the most 3 sections.

Same here. Ironic though, one might think - that the main colors for Best Buy are obviously Blu, while Circuit City, the supporter of failed format DivX all those years ago, is Red.

It's this type of insider information that is crucial to understanding today's market. I think.

the best buy here in Carmel for the time being is 50/50. however, if you go to frys in fishers they are more like 60/40 blu which is always a very good sight

Yeah, Mine had a isle split 50/50. But now its like 3/4s HD and I was getting worried as I keep buying Blu's and it sucks to see HD getting more space. But it also seems weird that even tho Blu has a smaller space its selling out fast... I couldnt find one Pirates movie 1-3. But yet HD DVDs havent been touched.

Maybe all the Blu-rays were bought and no one was buying HD-DUD's

Question IS At Worlds End REALLY in 1080P??

Newbie- but important question that hopefully someone can answer. Disney's first release of AT WORLD'S END are misprinted on the box as 1080i .Disney says , "don't worry, folks, the movie itself is in 1080P, just a misprint."
Well,Im running it on PS3 and through a Sharp Aquos 1080P LCD... it shows up on screen as a 1080i. Is Disney trying to pull a fast one. Can anyone explain why it would "read" as 1080i?

Thanks
Jeff

It's 1080p. Don't worry about it. Unless you've made a connection error. But it IS 1080p. Careful, by saying 'trying to pull a fast one' you might get badged a troll and subsequently attacked.

I guess some retailers just can't pick a winner.

When I'm in my local Best Buy, I see people in the Blu-ray movie section, but no one is looking at the HD movies.
