Default Clarifying the Math

Blu-ray now holds a 70:30 share on the market as far as studio support.

I think a lot of people are geting confused and thinking blu-ray is going to have about 40% more releases than HD DVD as there is a 40% gap between the two in studio support. THIS IS NOT HOW THE MATH WORKS. Blu-ray has rougly 150% more releases than HD DVD has now. Thats right, this deal is going to give blu-ray 2.5x the amount of movies than HD DVD. On top of the fact that HD DVD is discouraged and probably won't be putting out nearly the amount of releases as blu-ray will. I expect 35 out of paramount this yeah and about 50 out of universal AT BEST. Thats 85 new releases. Blu-ray is going to have near 400, thats over 400% more. There is no way on god's earth HD DVD will stay in the game.

One of HD DVDs biggest talking points, was that they had just as many movies out as blu-ray did. THis is because Universal put out 4 movies every week to help them stay afloat and WB had some exclusive titles. This is completely gone.

Gone from the HD DVD catalog are

300
Harry Potter and the Sorcorers Stone
Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets
Harry POtter and The Priosner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Goblet of FIre
Harry Potter and the ORder of the Phoenix
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Shining
A Clockwork Orange
Full Metal Jacket
Eyes Wide Shut
THe Matrix
The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix Revolutions
Blazing Saddles
Smallville
Nip/Tuck
Blade Runner
Blood Diamond
Batman Begins
Pan's Labryinth
V for Vendetta
Casablanca
The Departed
Willy Wonka
The Corpse Bride
Happy Feet
Forbidden Planet
A Christmas Story
Goodfellas
Caddyshack
Million Dollar Baby
Letter From Iwo Jima
Troy
Ocean's 11
Oceans' 12
Ocean's 13
Terminator 3
Syriana
The Polar Express
The Omega Man
Good Night, and Good Luck
Lethal Weapon
Leathal Weapon 2
The Last Samurai
Constantine
.....and much much more.

This is a huge deal that is going to end the war.

Also take into consideration that WB is going to release a lot more movies in theaters and on blu-ray than almost any other studio will/

To put it in top retrospect when Parmount left the big titles we lost were

Mission Impossible
MI:2
MI:3
Flags of our Fathers
Dreamgirls
The Untouchables
The Warriors
Shooter
and a few others.

As you can see WB is a much bigger deal than Paramount was.
