Default Help clarifying what is what...

Hello everyone. I post a lot in the PS3 forum but rarely come here other than to look for something. I'm hoping that some of the great help and advice that I see in other threads will come to mine I just recently purchased a Samsung LN40B630. I should note that I was using an HD CRT.

I will direct to my post in a thread at avsforum, but I will include the text of my post here.

Hi all. Long time lurker here but this is my first post. I just bought an LN40B630 last night and the picture quality is quite nice. I do have a concern though and want to make sure this is normal for an LCD or if my set is messed up. I hear terms like judder, motion blur, etc thrown around a lot but I've never been with someone in person that pointed them out to me so what I may be seeing could in fact me normal. I will preface this saying that I come from a 30" HDTV CRT TV, which despite being smaller has an excellent PQ.

My wife and I were watching HP: OotP last night from my PS3 (1080p/24) and a few times she noticed some artifacting near the top of the image when someone moved their arm or head quickly in the movie. I thought that it must be very apparent if she noticed it as she normally doesn't bring things like that up. Then I noticed it in the scenes where the newspaper is being panned across the screen. The artifacts appear between the letters, mainly around the top of the image and the bottom. They look to me like compression artifacts that you would see in a JPEG or MPEG video (low quality). The rest of the image is perfect, and these artifacts come and go very quickly (i.e. probably 2-3 of the frames). Then I noticed it briefly on a Dish HD feed but that could just be the ungodly compression they use.

So does this sound normal? Should I be concerned?

(more info: I was watching with AMP set to the next to highest setting. I will try it again with it on Clear or Off. We were in movie mode I believe).
I guess I am just a bit paranoid about spending $1000 which is not something I do regularly. My wife seems to notice the pixelating and/or jitteriness (that I mentioned in HP:OotP) the most; but I do see it as well. I just really am not sure what is judder/motion blur and what should be expected vs. if anything is wrong with my set. I'm leaning towards the former, but want to be sure that I shouldn't try to take the set back. I also don't think the set I purchased is a bad set in general, as Samsung's tend to get good reviews and this one is no exception.

Thanks in advance for any insight/advice!
