Lightbulb BWU-200S burner on 1.6GHZ??? HELP

ok hears the deal i need a 4x bd-r DL burner such as the BWU-200S Problem is my Laptop with T2060 (1.6GHz) & 1gig ram and sony requires 3.0GHZ..

I Need to know if i will beable to burn BD-r 50gig data disk with that 1.6ghz prosessor. I know as far as watching BD movies are out of the question, will the burning software crap out becuse of the prosessor?

yes i know that i will need an external sata dvd enclosure to use the BWU-200s

Also if ther are any other external drives that do 4x BD-R DL fell free to ad links..

Thanks

That should be more than sufficient if you're just burning discs. The high requirements are usually for playback and encoding.

Your pretty limited as far as 4x writers go. The two that come to mind are the Pioneer BDR-202 and Panasonic SW-5583, which the Sony is based on. If you want to step up to 6x, there's also the LG GGW-H20L.

Also, make sure that your external enclosure can handle the speeds. This probably won't be an issue with eSATA, but if you decide to use USB, there can be issues with some chipsets where the transfer rates are capped.

Cant say for writters, but my laptop has a bd drive and my CPU is a Intel 1.5 core duo with a 667 fsb, i do have 2 gigs of ram, and i can play movies fine. Sometimes if skips a bit during the start up, but after it plays fine. Best of luck.
