Arrow ScreenX at Regal

Quote:
ScreenX at Regal
Regal is changing the entertainment landscape with ScreenX: a revolutionary, multi-projection theatre experience that extends the screen to the auditorium walls. This immersive format takes traditional moviegoing a step further, by surrounding the audience with a 270-degree panoramic visual and putting them in the center of the action. Fly to the farthest reaches of space or explore the depths of the ocean with this incredible technology, and experience the thrill of the movies like never before.

My question is, has anyone here experienced ScreenX? Was it a fun experience?

Got excited for a moment thinking this was about a new, overdue Regal subscription service.

I saw it with The Nun, which was the first film they showed in the format near me. If you are familiar with Cinerama (I'm too young to have seen that theatrically, but have a sense of it through Blu Ray), that's probably the closest comparison.

It's fun, but kinda gimmicky, and I would say was used for about half an hour of the film and some scenes used it much better than others (I'll link to a review about it which I read before going, and I also found the wider environment scenes and particularly the scene with the bells were the best) https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.iho...n-screenx/amp/

We just installed one in our cinema. I think it is very good for people that do not like or cannot use 3D glasses as it can feel quite immersive, or perhaps don't like the motion chairs.

I watched the first few minutes of Aquaman and the scene in the aquarium that was in the trailer uses the format well.

Another gimmick. I don't need 3D or wraparound screens or motion seats to be immersed in the experience of a movie. Just make a good movie and that'll do the job fine.

I saw MI: Fallout in 4D, and it was rendered so well, I almost fell out of my chair during the helicopter crash scene. Call it a gimmick if you want, but it instantly became my number 1 movie experience memory.

what's the audio for this 'experience' ? I thought from what I could tell online it's only 7.1 and does not feature immersive object based audio mixing (Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, Auro)

Just write a good story and I'll do the visuals with my imagination, who needs gimmicky projected images.

Just give me some of them Incredibles 2 glasses so I can watch movies anywhere I want fully immersed. No need to go to a gimmicky cinema! /s

That was my impression. I saw the last "Star Trek" in Barco and this sounds like the same set up, but with more footage. It was sparsely used before, but when it was used, it was pretty cool.
