Default Ideas for official HD DVD funeral?

When HD-DVD is defeated... which will be sooner rather than later despite what even the most "neutral" of people in this format war believe, anyone have any suggestions for fitting funeral for the format?

Best to start planning now as it will be upon us sooner rather than later.

The more I think about this the more I realize there won't be a funeral.

I liken HD-DVD to an old sick person being dropped off in a hospital with various machines and tubes that are the only thing keeping it alive.

It's just going to sit there and slowly die a miserable death over the next few years. When it is finally dead it will be long forgotten and nobody will care that it finally happened.

A quick cremation and that's it. ex: the death makes page 10 news of home theatre magazines and there isn't any more talk of it ever again.

Nah, should be a quick death - remember all the life support machines run on Windows, they will crash soon enough.

Here is how the hdhvd funeral will go down: after working hours but before closing, in stores around the world, the remaining dust-covered hddvd boxes will be removed along with the waste-of-space shelves they once were displayed on. It will be a very swift and quiet funeral, leaving most of us with a smile on our face. And then WB can finally have it's THD funeral to bring closure to what will have proved to have been a very bad idea, and an even worse one. Is it just me or do any of you notice that the Blu-ray section in the store is always seemingly empty and the hddvd section looks fully stocked and untouched.

^^ We keep seeing a growing number of comments, sentiments, and expecations like these prop up and I think we're going to find out probably by Christmas time what this funeral will start to look like.

That's basically just a reprint of his previous article written weeks ago. I don't think anything will officially happen by September, if ever, but I do think after a summer full of great releases that will include POTC and probably Spider-Man 1&2, HD-DVD will suffer a mortal blow. HD-DVD will be around for some time. If Universal goes neutral, it's essentially all over.

Regardless of anything else: I think this happens in time for Christmas retail season 2007 for all the obvious reasons.

I think with the amount of pride these companies have, it won't be announced, they will probably stick around in some other avenue like pc drives etc. A road less travled of sorts, just as the divx name has seemed to linger around years and years after its demise.

We'll have another Atari 5200--We can take all the unsold HD-DVDs and Players and bury them in a New Mexico landfill.

For me being neutral of this format wars.

I do not think we need that kind of funeral. No Funeral for HD DVD format.

Only thing we need is a celebration for Blu-ray side who are hardcore Blu-ray supporters to be in a joy rather than attend sad and dull(boring) funeral.

So, No plan shalt taken place for funeral of HD DVD. It is just a machine, not human.

No, I see HD-DVD being packed up carefully and stored in a special warehouse in Washington...

...Next to the Lost Ark.

I proposed to host a burial of a red "Transformers" out in the woods.

But then I figured it's basicaly littering so I think I'll pass and have a beer while watching Transformers on Blu instead
