Default Death on the Nile (2022)

Quote:
After first taking the train, Twentieth Century Fox is now readying to hop on a riverboat cruise.

On the heels of Murder on the Orient Express, Fox is staying in the Agatha Christie business by putting into development Death on the Nile, its next Hercule Poirot mystery.

Nile, first published in 1937, saw the detective on a vacation in Egypt and becoming involved in a love triangle gone murderously bad. The novel once again featured socialites, social climbers and high society’s help in the cast.

Michael Green, who wrote Orient Express, is penning the script and while there is no deal currently in place, five-time Oscar nominee Kenneth Branagh is expected to return as director and reprise his role as Poirot.

Great news! Branagh was an excellent Poirot and to see more of him would be a true delight.

Now that's a remake that can be a vast improvement over the first adaptation - the 1978 movie is a waxworks of famous people in garish costumes without an ounce of visual flair or narrative power. Some people complain that Lumet's Orient Express is like a TV movie (an opinion I disagree with) - I wonder what they say about Guillermin's limp dick of a whodunit.

It would be nice if they’d film one of the many novels that haven’t already received a big screen adaptation.

I vaguely remember the 1978 version. Is that the one Guillermin directed and is this the same director who directed King Kong '78 and Sheena?

Default Gal Gadot in talks to star in Death on the Nile

Quote:
The 'Wonder Woman' star is in negotiations for Fox’s follow-up to 'Murder on the Orient Express.'
Gal Gadot has snagged a ticket for a murderous Nile cruise.

The Wonder Woman actress is in negotiations to star in Death on the Nile, Fox’s follow up to surprise hit Murder on the Orient Express.

Kenneth Branagh, who directed the adaptation of the Agatha Christie whodunit classic, is returning as director and is expected to reprise his role as master detective Hercule Poirot.

Death on the Nile, first published in 1937, saw the detective on a vacation in Egypt and becoming involved in a love triangle gone murderously bad. The novel, like Orient Express, once again featured socialites, social climbers and high society’s help in the cast of suspects.
