“I am your father.” Just may well be one of the most iconic movie quote in cinematic history. Arguably the best Star Wars film made. Watching the Han Solo and Lando scene in this movie again after watching Solo: A Star Wars Story gives it more impact to me about their friendship. Of course, the highlight of the film is the reveal of Darth Vader as Luke’s father. Great to revisit this film for Father’s Day.

“Father, please! Help me!” My favorite scene in the film as Luke reconnects with his father, believing there is still something good in him, and pleads with him as Emperor Palpatine sets out to kill him. Touching scene, too.

This movie about a rebellious son in rural England who constantly have conflicts with his father and grudgingly helps with the family farm and falls for an immigrant farmer from Romania who was hired to help with the farm due to the father’s deteriorating health has some similarities to Brokeback Mountain.

“When two girls make out, it’s hot. When two guys make out, it’s just gay.” A bleak and daring film about confused teenager dating a girl while meeting older men online for sex as he constantly searches for the next high with his friends who doesn’t know about his personal struggles.

“It gets better.” Easier said than done. A social outcast high school teen is roomed with a new student who becomes the star player of the rugby team. What happens when he finds out his popular roommate is gay and secretly hiding it from him and his teammates?

“Why is straight default?” There’s a scene in the film where teens come out to their parents as straight and how ludicrous it looks but begs the question why gays have to come out if straights don’t. A gay high school student who was writing anonymously with another gay student by e-mail is outed and how it affects his personal life.

This film has become one of my favorite Scorsese film in recent years. Outstanding ensemble cast and that ending. Wow. Still blows me away every time I watch it.

This classic erotic thriller from master storyteller Brian De Palma continues to hold up on repeat viewings. The cat-and-mouse mouse museum scene as well as the infamous elevator scene are burned in my mind.

Jar Jar Binks aside, it was great to revisit this film to see the introduction (and death? or not once you watch the Solo: A Star Wars Story film) of Darth Maul.

Cringe-worthy performance from Hayden Christensen delivering Lucas’ hokey lines in his blossoming relationship with Padme was a distraction. Otherwise, it was an impressive visual spectacle of the battle of droids and clones.

Definitely my favorite among the prequel films, and one of the best among the Star Wars films, with memorable duel fights between Anakin and Count Dooku, Mace Windu and Palpatine, Yoda and Darth Sidious, and of course, Obi Wan and the newly minted Darth Vader. Watching Anakin’s inevitable and prophetic turn to the dark side was thrilling (from the point of view of watching how the iconic villain of the OT films came to be) and heartbreaking.

After watching Solo: A Star Wars Story last week, viewing this film again made me appreciate even more the references Han Solo made about his past adventures including his bond with Chewbacca.
