Too bad the movie was such a letdown. Sooooo much potential and a decent start but man did it get shlocky as it went along. Glad its coming out for fans of the film but IMO its just not a good movie.

Surprised to see this hitting 4K so early on. Figured stuff like this would be released well into 4K's life. Good news is companies really seem to be jumping into 4K recently. Personally, I won't be upgrading this one. Told myself that I'm going to try refraining on 4K double dips and only buy for new purchases moving forward.

It's because of the remake coming out in March or April

This movie has A LOT of nostalgia for me. I remember seeing this on opening night during my 11th grade year. The theater was packed full of high school kids and I remember all of the gasps and screams. Fun times. I was never happy with the overprocessed looking BD, so this should be a huge improvement.

I'm pleased by this news. This isn't a great film by any means, but it is satisfyingly nasty in ways that I doubt the remake will dare to be, and in any event, another catalogue title on UHD BD is only a good thing, so I will be picking this up.

I might be getting the UHD as I never got the BD. Used to love and be very scared of this book and film was good also when I was a teenager. Later I watched it and by unknown reasons was not into it enough to bother to watch the TV broadcast. Also I agree with all previous comments from others.
