Does anyone know if a new transfer was used when this was screened at the 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival in April? If so, would like to see that version on disc instead of just another Paramount repackaging. Was really hoping any new editions would be coming from Sony or Criterion too due to their licensing of the other Capra classics.

I love this movie, and I collect Gloria Grahame films, but I won't double-dip unless this upcoming release has some notable improvements with the transfer. The existing transfer is pretty awesome as is, though.

Just curious about this and one of my favorite X-mas film. Donna Reed and Gloria Grahame so gorgeous in the movie. So anyway I never own Blu-ray yet and one day for me.

I don't think the TCM festival mentioned anything about a new restoration, but I do hope that is the case. I don't think the current transfer looks horrible, just a little dated and a bit of a digital look. I recently read Robert Harris' impressions at HTF, and that's as close as I've seen to him tearing a BD a new one.

I'm content with the current transfer, but it can be improved upon. Hopefully that's what this is, otherwise it's a waste of a release.

My thoughts exactly. I actually sold my Blu-ray and re-bought the 60th Anniversary DVD due to it having a more filmic look, but with that came a sacrifice of some fine detail and included some minor vertical stretching. Six of one, half a dozen of the other I guess, but really hoping for a less digital looking presentation on any new Blu-ray releases.

I haven't upgraded this movie yet, so I may as well get this edition. It's an amazing film with a powerful message, though my favorite Capra movie is probably It Happened One Night.
