A pair of new solicitations showed up in the preorder watch thread that merit a separate discussion.

Happily N'ever After is getting a day/date release with the DVD on 5/1.

Weeds Season 1 is getting a May 29 release.

Weeds is really fascinating in a way; the Showtime series is getting a season one release with a total runtime of 280 minutes. The kicker? $29.99 for the Blu-ray version. I have no idea of the actual episode runtimes (I think they're like 45 minutes) and original series have short episode counts in total. But I'm still surprised that it's priced so competitively. I was interested but figured I'd wait it out for a sale since I expected it to be closer to $60.

DVDEmpire also has Basic Instinct (director's cut) coming from LG on 5/29.

I skipped the DVD version of Basic Instinct. I may get the BD version. It's one hell of a mind-fcuk of a film!

Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release Weeds: Season One on May 29th. The Showtime series arrives in a previously unreleased widescreen presentation in 1080p and 6.1 DTS HD Audio. Bonus materials will include sic commentary tracks with cast & crew, "Smoke and Mirrors" Original Marijuana Mockumentary, "Smokey Snippets," Showtime Original Content including a special on suburbia, Agrestic Herbal Recipes and the "More Than A Friend" Music Video by All Too Much. Retail is $29.99.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced the Blu-ray debut of Basic Instinct for May 29th. The Michael Douglas/Sharon Stone thriller arrives with a 1080P widescreen transfer of the unrated director's cut backed with Dolby Digital 5.1 EX and DTS HD audio. Bonus materials ported over from the previous DVD issues include an audio commentary with Paul Verhoeven and Jan De Bont, a second commentary with author Camille Paglia, "Blonde Poison: The Making of Basic Instinct" and "Cleaning Up Basic Instinct" featurettes, Storyboard Comparisons, original screen tests and the trailer. Retail is $29.99.

I'll be getting Weeds and Basic Instinct. LG is really stepping up. I wish they would get us some more of their catalog titles. I would also like to see LG go PCM more often, which it seems like they do when they use a BD-50.

I recently rented T2. But, it loses so much when it is the theatrical version.

I'd love to see T2 Ultimate.

According to the site: http://bluray.liesinc.net/ Weeds (both seasons) are region free. Can anyone confirm this? I don't know how reliable the site is.
