Default The Quake (sequel to The Wave) - March 19, 2019

Magnolia Pictures will be releasing the Norwegian disaster film The Quake (Skjelvet), which is a sequel to the popular film The Wave (Belgen) on Blu-ray on March 19th. The film is directed by the DP from The Wave, and the lead actor Kristoffer Joner also returns for this film.

Quote:
In 1904 an earthquake with a 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale shook Oslo. Its epicenter was in the Oslo Rift which runs directly through the Norwegian capital. There are recorded quakes from the rift on a daily basis and geologists cannot be sure, but arguments indicate that we can expect major future earthquakes in this area. When - nobody can say for certain - but we know that the density of people and infrastructure in Oslo is significantly more vulnerable today than in 1904. What if a massive earthquake is looming?

Also, if you have't seen The Wave yet, I highly recomend it. It's a very intelligent kind of disaster film. It's available on BD, and also streaming on Netflix in the US.

The Blu-ray has been announced for March but disappointed that it doesn’t list Dolby Atmos like The Wave.

Mines all the genre tropes in the trailer itself...yet, want to get it based on how much I loved 'The Wave'...besides, I still need something to erase the bad taste of 'San Andreas'

The Wave was great. Will definitely get this one as well.

Hope this comes with Atmos. If not I’ll import the Norwegian release and make my own version with subtitles.

Watching that trailer reminded me how much I miss narrated previews.

I plan on picking this up. I enjoyed The Wave - nice little disaster flick with excellent special effects. Is this really a sequel to The Wave? Wasn't Oslo already destroyed by a tsunami?

it would be absolutely terrible if this release doesn't get ATMOS or DTS:X audio.

also, I wonder if The Wave and this will ever get a 4K UHD/DV/HDR release? cause if it did, I'd be like........

I’m very confident this will come with an atmos soundtrack.
The Wave was released by Nordisk Film Distribution in Norway and Magnolia Pictures in the US and bought came with atmos. Nordisk Film Distribution already released The Quake with atmos and Magnolia will be releasing it very soon. I think things are looking very good.

I love The Wave and will love this one as well. These movies have a slow build up that has intensity. Unlike our Hollywood CRAP movies that has everything done in 1hr

I blind brought the Attaction which is a very good movie. I made a thread for it but I guess no one is interested in it. People are really missing a very good movie.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. I will do a back to back of The Wave and The Quake.

I think these are the only non English language films I'll have with an Atmos track. So rare.

I hope there's decent character development in this. I don't care how good the special effects are - if it's just a montage of random people getting smushed in their SUVs there's no point in investing time in this kind of movie. I enjoyed The Wave, though.

FWIW, I loved the characters and, as my write-up indicates, the actual disaster only eats up the last 30 minutes or so.
