Does anyone have "The Producers" (Japanese release) on BD. - Blu-ray Forum

Hiya,

I was just wondering if anyone had "The Producers" on BD. It is on relkease in japan, but nowhere else.

Specifically I was wondering about:-

The menu languages... is there an English Option
The subtitles... are these burned into the image (horrible) or selectable (specifically off).
I assume being a musical that it is not dubbed.

Menu is in Japanese only, but you should be able to figure it out
Subtitles are removeable, but you have to turn them off manually because they default to on

There is no dubbing, english only

Does anybody know (or have any theories) if the 2005 version of "The Producers" will have a North American release anytime in the somewhat near future? I'm kind of surprised it doesn't already exist by now, to be honest. It's one of my favorite musicals and I'd really like to own a proper English copy but if the Japanese release is the only one suspected to release... I may have to make do. I'm just so confused here!

I wouldn't bet on a US release any time soon. I waited and waited. The Japanese release is reasonably priced and playable in the US and it looks better than the DVD. So if you are a fan of the film then it is worth getting.

It's a good transfer (like 4/5 level) and the sound is fantastic (easily 5/5); plus all DVD extras are ported over. I spent $20 on the Japan Blu-ray and felt I got my money's worth. If you want it, get it.
