What's also interesting was there was some guy who was talking about the new issue with Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia and he was "eliminated".

Either way, it will be interesting to see what Kino does with this release.

They will do nothing. At least not right away. In two years they'll reissue it with improved PQ, just like they're doing with TGTBATU.

Forgot that Aldrich had directed this! Did Burt Lancaster ever make a bad film? I know he thought "Airport" was a piece of crap but I like it, lots of fun.

Hope this goes off without a hitch. I believe there are some additional pitfalls to scanning and correctly framing Superscope because it's kind of a weird format that wasn't thought out very well at the time.

I’m so glad this is coming. I missed out on the standard Blu before it went OOP.
I really hope this addresses why the color seemed a bit drained on the dvd and mgm Blu. Right now I only have the LD which is quite nice and has the original SuperScope opening logo.

Really curious to see how much of an improvement this will be than the previous release. It was mentioned that the elements were in horrible shape, but even if this is a bit better than the previous release I'll be buying it. Still, some of the 2K scans recently from MGM have been hit or miss for me.

Outside of the Cox commentary, nothing to see here. It sounds like most of the issues of the old MGM Blu have not been addressed and this new release just seems to be an even trade. A nice deal for those who missed out on the earlier Blu which is now OOP, but no reason to double dip beyond the commentary.

CineSavant is a very good critic for content, but his technical reviews are often pretty superficial and he tends to be overly forgiving for flaws most other critics have clearly and correctly pointed out. So for HIM to say this Blu isn't really any kind of an upgrade indicates that even he could not find much praise for it and that's very rare for him.
