I've procrastinated long and hard over the past year to go with a new HD tv, Currently i've just been using an outdated 32 inch 1080i tv, i bought almost 2 years ago from Bestbuy as an open box clearance item. I've spent significant time over the year looking at tv's - what they offer, and then new models coming out that supercede me wanting the older one i chose over the month before. I recently got married and now have a daughter, so my mental facade of I don't care how much it cost, I got to have the best, is now officially over. My most recent top tv I want, is the 52" sony xbr-4. Is there a cheaper alternative? Is the 120mhz refresh rate worth it? I do gaming - having both the 360, and ps3, and maybe getting the Wii later. Is it really worth the premium to go with a 120mhz tv?
I'd appreciate some input on what Tv's I should be really paying attention too. Also the tv sets about 14-15 feet away from the current television and the view is horrible at least for me, I can't read anything in the blu-wizard setup on blu-rays, without getting up and getting closer to the television to read it. I would like to get the best picture possible and what size television would you guys recommend for that distance, upon getting a lcd/plasma then I would most likely mount it on the wall, then the distance would end up being more so around 16 feet from the couch. Receivers, I would love great sound, great speakers. My main question in a surround sound setup, If I have for example, the 360, PS3, get a stand alone 2.0 player later, cable box. That's 4 hdmi connections. If the television has 3 hdmi inputs, and I get a receiver with say only 2 hdmi inputs 1/out. If I put the ps3, 360 into the tv, and the last one into the receiver, and the cable box, standalone into the receiver, would the ps3 and 360 still go into surround sound? OR would I have to get a 4 input receiver ? That being said on this topic, what would be the best receiver that money could buy, thats not to insanely priced as well as speakers? I'm excluding all TOP of the LINE, because of price premium, but something that will last me for say at least 5 years or more. Is 7.1 worth it over 5.1 or not really? Which would you suggest? Okay as for specs on these two items I listed them below on what I want. Essentionally I want the "FULL BLU-RAY EXPERIENCE" Tv: Hdmi, 1080p, energy efficiency?, 120mhz?(if noticeable improvement worth the premium), longest life cycle (rules out Lamps, from DLP & Proj.), best quality picture, size of tv based upon distance, no glare in daylight?, Price range 0-$3000 Receiver: Hdmi throughput? (no seperate audio cables), 4 hdmi inputs? (refer to if SS would work daisy chained in tv and receiver), DTS-HD MA, (7.1 or 5.1?), energy efficient?, Price range $0-$600 (maybe 700) Speakers: Totally lost on speakers, I dont even know where to begin. Help needed. Price range: I dont know. |
