Default Advice on my Home Theater.

Hi there! New guy here. I am waiting for my tax returns to finish my home theater, and thought I'd see what you all thought of what I have and what my plans are. So far I have my receiver, which is an Integra DTR 7.8, and my speakers are Defitive Technology BP7006 series, set up for 5.1 with a SuperCube III sub.
My plans for the rest are to buy the Panasonic TH-58PZ750U for the TV. I haven't made up my mind on the BluRay player yet, I'm leaning towards the Panasonic DMPBD30K, but (I'm sure I'll get flamed for this) also have my eye on the LG BH200. Does anyone have any advice on these products, or tricks for setup as I am new to this....the last home theater I set up was in 1994. Thanks for all your help/advice

how much are you looking to spend?

(and all you need is a bluray player?)

From what I've read, the BD-30 is one of, if not the best standalone player on the market. No flame retardant clothing necessary. Welcome!!

Sounds like a nice setup. I'd go with the Panasonic - no telling how the LG will work, sending the bitstream down for True-HD and DTS-HDMA.

With that receiver, I'd definitely consider going 7.1. And the SuperCube III is sweet - good bang for the buck. I bet you'll wind up with a second one, though, unless your room is small. It's deep and clean, but not all that loud.

Good choices, overall.

I probably wouldn't spend more than 800 bones on a disc player. The price is right on the Panasonic...hopefully by the time I'm ready to buy they will be around $400.

Thanks for the reply. The room I have is small, about 11 x 16. It's the only room I have to set up a "theater" in, and it only has walls on 3 sides, so 7.1 would be difficult. I can always upgrade to 7.1 if/when I get a different house. Thatsupercube rocks, it shakes the floor and is only turned up half way. Due to the size of the room I think one will do....for now.

Don't waste your money on the LG POS. Why waste money supporting HD DVD now, when it's as good as dead?

For a standalone player, check out the Pioneer Elite 95.

I have the same problem in the family room, that backs into the kitchen. The living room was no problem. Still fiddling with a solution for the family room, I'll post it when it's done...

And the problem with sub that's "fine for now"...there will come a moment - no telling when - when the tiny devil on your left shoulder will whisper, "dude, you need MORE SUB!" And he won't go away. I saw a dude buying his THIRD Martin Logan Descent, for a 20x20 room. He had a very strange look on his face...

haha, i enjoy reading your posts.

my vote also will go with the bd30 blu ray player. i had some fun demoing this at a best buy awhile back, and it seems to be a knockout standalone player.

also, nice job on picking out the def tech speakers
i think nearly all my posts so far have been me raving about them, so, well done
