Default lower Blu disc manufacturing costs

a few months ago I read somewhere that Hitachi and Mitsubishi had jointly developed a new way of making Blu-Ray discs (somewhere the word "organic dye" was used) which would allow them to be pressed on slightly modified regular DVD making equipment - one of HD's selling points - and would bring prices down. anyone heard any more about this??
