Default Last Dolby vision question

Is this website right. So once I got into external setting and click enhance settings. So that means Vision is now active so just click back till I’m back to the movie.

Same set up and I took your advice. Sony 85 xf900e, lg uk90 and an older str receiver. Forgot model. So the audio only hdmi cord is going to receiver while the other one is going from player to the tv. I did exactly what the above website told me. Now if I go into regular display there is no display that actually says vision. Just hd- hdr10. But when I do that it takes it off enhancement so I assume once I go into display it takes vision off. Hope I explained right

i pretty much did this.. sorry to keep linking stuff but i want to get it right and I feel im explaining wrong
but with an xbox, im just going in to enhance to enable vision

not sure if your lg player has the version of DV that is compatible with the Sony tv.

check with LG or find the LG UHD player forum here and see if it will give DV to the sony tv you have.

According to this post over on AVS, the player doesn't support the Sony DV format. So hopefully it will get an update at some point.

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/149-b...e-talk-10.html

It has already been discussed in this thread before. Sony's cheap a** DV implementation is not yet supported by this player.

Also our forum thread is here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=304097&page=9

nice that you got your 'Sony System' - up and going - in Dolby Vision
(Sony player/Sony tv)

i just wanted to clarify, at least as i perceive it, that LG supports the 'universal' Dolby Vision 'profile' but not the profile 'unique to Sony displays' that requires 'yet another HDR' for consumers to endure (confusion) - (they did it right with regards to Dolby Vision from the beginning years ago, and yet you had to return their 'really nice player' for their efforts

i have nothing against Sony (great consumer electronics company), however, as i perceive it, this development only benefits Sony, and not the industry :: forced you to have to return an LG for a Sony; right? :: whom benefited?

don't we already have enough 'HDR formats'?

if this keeps up, how is anything going to be compatible anymore?

i will refrain from commenting on Samsung/HDR10+

In case anyone is curious, the Sony specific DV profile is called "low latency". Apparently Sony added DV support so late in the game to its displays, that the hardware couldn't support the regular profile, so the "low latency" puts more of the work on the source device to get it to work.
