Original Producer Rebooting 'Pumpkinhead' Series!

The original Pumpkinhead was produced by the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group headed up by Italian producer Dino De Laurentiis. De Laurentiis went on to produce Hannibal and Red Dragon. For the rest of the franchise, the Motion Picture Corporation of America (MPCA) headed up by Brad Krevoy took the reins and is now back to produce the rebooted series, explains the site.

The ’88 film starred Lance Henriksen as a man who conjures up a gigantic vengeance demon called Pumpkinhead to destroy the teenagers who accidentally killed his son.

The franchise also saw three horrendous sequels released over the years: Pumpkinhead II: Blood and Wings, Pumpkinhead: Ashes to Ashes, and Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud. I guess a reboot is the way to go?

Huge fan of Pumpkinhead and have been awaiting his return for awhile now. A reboot can't be any worse than the sequels I'm thinking.

Would grab it up in a heartbeat if it was released on BD.I really enjoyed it.

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel if you're rebooting this. I mean sure they were fun films growing up. I remember the second more than the first.

There's nothing "bottom of the barrel" about the first Pumpkinhead.

Yes. If Pumpkinhead is a big stupid cgi monster, i wont bother with the reboot but I will buy the first one.

Same here. I've been hoping the original would get a blu release. Promoting a reboot would be a great reason/time to try to make some extra money off the original.

hah i remember this as a kid roaming the video store for a horror film to watch with my cousins we had so many laughs

so +1 hopefully this will lead to a blu release of the original

Pumpkinhead is one of the better horror films.

I'm appalled by this, but I guess any attention to this late Stan Winston classic and eventual blu-ray release would be good. I remember waiting a long time for a Collectors Edition of the film on DVD several years back that was such an improvement from my original pan n scan DVD.
