I've noticed we're seeing a LOT of re-releases this year of movies that already have perfectly good BDs. Are the studios expecting an influx of new BD buyers this year?

No, they just print new cover art to tempt people who haven't bought a movie yet. The new art typically sucks, though.

Either that, or just trying to trick existing ones into re-buying the same discs for new covers.

This title should tell a lot about LG's plans going forward. If it's actually something new that means they are interested in more than just throwing existing masters back into the market. If they throw this back as is, no hope for them doing anything with the Miramax - Echo Bridge catalog they got ahold of.

These are two I am glad I bought initially. The redone artwork looks awful. There was nothing wrong with the original poster art.

All of the actors in the redone artwork look constipated.

I'm a big fan of the Stargate franchise, but I have no interest in this unless it has something new. I got a steelbook for this back in January so it's not likely I will rebuy this.

Looks to be a basic repackage. No surprise there.....

There was no new master struck for Stargate as far as I know. The 2009 15th Anniversary release used a master that was struck a few years before and it looks pretty darn good.

Would love it if they released SG-1 on Blu-ray.

Would love to see this movie actually get a quality 4K remaster, but probably won't happen. At least the 15th Anniversary edition fixed the contrast issue that plagued earlier releases. The original Blu-ray was horrid.

Right, and it actually contains lossless audio.

Got this in the mail today. The special features listed are exactly the same, so I would say 99.99999999% this is the same disc. I had never purchased the blu ray before though, so it's fine with me. I hate that it says "the movie" on the front, like I have any interest in their dumb TV show.

It's funny that it has a big sticker on the front that says "First Time with Digital HD!"

The show is actually way better than the movie by a large margin
