Default How Do You Keep Track of What You Don't Yet Own?

Whether it's available but you haven't picked it up yet, or only a pre-order, or announced but not yet up for pre-order, or even just solidly rumoured/soft-announced...do y'all have systems for keeping track of this stuff? Especially when it's not a film you're familiar with, so a purchasing decision will depend on synopsis, film reviews, etc?

Then there's PQ and extras variations between regions and release versions....

For any potential future purchases, I just write them down on a Pages or Word document.

This. I do it for all the Amazon countries I order from;

Amazon.com
Amazon.co.uk
Amazon.de
Amazon.it
Amazon.fr

Anything I want not distributed by them I usually keep track of in my head

I don't bother with social media (twitter, facebook, ...), I get my 'release' info solely from this site (blu-ray.com).

never really had an issue with keeping track of things. not that many titles out there that i need to keep track of in terms of need to get. i have my priority list which is usually catagories like Universal Monsters or Hammer horror and then will put titles in order of want. if something new gets announced then it may be added or bump something in terms of order in which to buy. before any of that in terms of older titles i have to determine whether it needs an upgrade from a currently owned DVD. plenty of titles that i may have for collector purposes but rarely watch so no need to upgrade in those cases.

I have a massive .txt file, currently has over 2000 movies/tv shows I eventually want.
I keep track of best release (PQ/AQ/Extras/Uncut/Release Country etc).

The hardest thing is to prioritize which Blu-ray over another. I usually binge buy from a particular director/actor or genre typically.

I always make a speadsheet at home for each year. It is by label with each title having a max price that I'm willing to pay. High priority titles will be in bold lettering. Limited high priority titles are always a thorn in the wallet. Most everything else will have to wait for a sale. If a title doesn't get purchase it will be ported over to next years sheet.

I put movies that are already released and confirmed upcoming releases under the WISHLIST section. Movies that I've already preordered/paid for/etc. go under the "Paid For/Waiting to Be Delivered" section. I don't have a hard time remembering because I have a good memory, but I just made it like that, so I don't have to think about it. Doesn't hurt.

I have wishlists on Amazon, Screen Archives, Kino, Bullmoose, and Warner Archive.

I don't have everything that I still want out there on a list but that's ok.
Many times I'll see a title here on this site ("best movie deals" updates at the top of the page) and say to myself "oh yeah, I forgot about that one! Then I just order it.

Also Hamilton Books is a great place to grab stuff on their monthly updates of new titles and price cuts... come to think of it I have a wishlist there too!

Sometimes I add things I'm interested in to the 'Saved for Later' section of the shopping cart on Amazon. When you click on the cart it tells you of any price decreases/increases, once a day.

If there is a preorder I'm interested in I'll just preorder it, usually on Amazon. A couple of days before the release date I'll check the price and decide if it's still something I'm interested in. If not I'll just cancel it and add it to 'Saved for Later'. I have about 600 items in it right now.

Similar to this, I just have a txt file... one as a schedule to show what comes out when instead of having to look through releases I don't care about here, and another to have what's out that I want. Though for the last year and a half, I've just kept things on the release schedule and delete what I get instead of copying them to another txt file just for that.

It's not that hard to keep up with I'd say.

I keep a list on Evernote, so it's accessible whether I'm at home on the computer or out of the house and using my cell phone. Anytime there is an announcement, rumor, etc I just add the title to remind me to look for it / pre-order it when it becomes available.

You already have a 'blu-ray' collection on this website, go there and you can make your own categories on what you want to call them. I have categories for all kinds of things; Ordered and Wishlist get used a lot. I start with one I want and put it in the Wishlist. Once I buy it (if it's online), I move it to the 'Ordered' category. I add where I got it from and the price I paid. Once I receive it, I mark if it has a Slip and categorize it (Western, Thriller, Romance, Action, or whatever). When I watch it, I mark it as watched. If I sell a movie, I have a sold category. I have a category for 'Updated to blu-ray' and 'Upgraded to 4K' as DVDs and blu-rays are replaced. And it's all done on this website with no special software needed.

Wish list set up on Amazon US/UK, Hamilton Book, and Screen Archives. Also have a list set up on my phones “memo” section for Vinegar Syndrome’s halfway to Black Friday sale, and potential pick ups from Severin, Twilight Time and Kino when they do their expected sales.

Besides using the various shopping sites' wishlists, I keep a master list in Google Docs so it's easily accessible from my phone or computer.
