It's the final Madea film, so it shall spar with How to Train Your Dragon 3's second week, but should win by a few million from curiosity and word of mouth.

Madea will do well, but I don't think it will be number 1, maybe Alita again. I personally would rather see Greta, but like most nonfranchise horror movies it will be lucky to land in the top 5.

Alita won't even be #1 this weekend. It wouldn't even be possible for it to rebound and be #1 next weekend.

I'm excited for Greta but it seems like somewhere around a 5 Million opener.

It pained me to do it, but I had to go with Madea. I just don't see anything competing with it.

I think the Madea franchise is getting long in the tooth, crowds were reacting poorly during the trailers every time I saw it. Going with the second lowest opening in the franchise.

A Madea Family Funeral $19.7 mil
Greta $2.5

You might say that Madea slayed the dragon.

This is shaping up to be a very bad year for holds and second weekend drops. It has the potential to be one of the worst years, in terms of actual tickets sold, in a long while.

Although Disney is about to unleash the big guns, so we'll see.

Yeah, it's pretty ugly with the holds and drops for some movies this year.
